BolloxInBruges: Not to say you're wrong about it, but all the WGT employees on here besides pizza have stated VEM is not in play, and I choose to believe it, right or wrong...
Odd that pizza is no longer here. He was the one who said "VEM is a crucial system within WGT. I can understand the confusion
surrounding this subject, so I sat down with the CEO (and owner of the
patent) and he helped me decipher the legalese so that I may share it
with you."
Keep in mind that the prior company of Messrs Nelson and Cheng designed and produced electronic slot machines. Slots in Vegas return on average 95% of what people put into them. The casino keeps 5%. To maximize the revenue the machines must be occupied. So the programs are designed to keep a player interested in the game. Keep the player playing. I imagine there is a lot of psychology involved in keeping a player interested. Nelson and Cheng no doubt are well versed in how to keep a player interested.
Read in the Automatic Adaptation of Virtual Equipment Model patent: "Virtual equipment automatically adapts to reflect changes in user skill
level and keep users challenged as their skill level improves. As a
result, users are less likely to loose[sic] interest in a computer game."
Is that a coincidence?
Anyway, a VEM discussion is way off track of this thread. So I'm done yapping about it here. ;o)
