I just caught a glimpse of this in some highlights and not paying too much attention at the time, but did  Adam Scott drive the 3rd hole?

They moved the tees up to drivable range on #3 twice, #7 once, and #13 once (that I saw). On Sunday both #3 and #13 were reachable, and I know at least Keegan Bradley had an eagle on 13.

    Thx,  That explains it then.

I was a little disappointed that the USGA chose to play the Men's Open at the course length that they used on Saturday and Sunday.   Since we play on WGT at the top end of the length, it was disappointing to see 10 as easily reachable, a couple of par four holes as driveable and several of the par 3's playing 25 to 50 yards under the distance we see.

In watching the ladies, it was insane.  The par 5 10th played at 450 yards on Sunday, I think even the short women players could reach with a hybrid.  Michelle Wie had an 8 iron into it and made eagle.

I enjoy Pinehurst and love what they brought it back to.   I don't think the USGA needed to soften it up for the men and women.  The native area had not yet grew to where it needs to be, the greens for the men weren't at the true US Open speed, they couldn't cut it down with the women playing the next week.

In my mind Pinehurst gets a 10 but the USGA gets a 5 here.
