    Hello

I am not sure if this is an accepted fault at the moment but in the last 3 weeks on 2 occasions I have taken the flag out of the hole for an approach shot and still cannoned off the green.

The two could be separate issues.

On the first at Kiawah I hit a punch into the green and it appears to hit the back of the cup and bounce back out. I know the reply shows the flag in but it was definitely out.

The second on Merion seems to hit an invisible flag. Please see below. Again in the replay the flag is in but it was definitely  out and showed so on viewing directly after the shot.

A quick question, did you pull the flag before you took your shot or once the ball was already in flight. Cause the latter part doesn't work, learned that the hard way. It does say the flag was removed, but it really wasn't ;-)

Are you joking. I wish someone had mentioned that to me before for ***** sake. What the hell is the point in having the option. Thanks Krizan that would almost certainly explain it.

Again, it's in the rules of golf (§17)

It's illegal to remove the unattended flag when the ball is in motion - WGT prevents you from this violation and two penalty strokes.

(Edit: Our %%&$%§$ caddie doesn't act like Phil's)

But why let you think you have removed it? I am now trying to remember who told me about this. I am sure it is in the rules of golf but I thought this was a genuine option and have spent the last however long using it. Thank god I found out now.

    TallAcePaul:

I don't fully understand this Q, but I (we?) are talking about using WGT's "remove flag" option during a shot, aren't we?

Maybe it's easier programming this way?

At least they didn't think of poor gamers who know golf only through TW (the guy).

Are you suggesting here Alosso that my only knowledge of the game of golf is through this game?

Excuse me - not at all! I didn't point at you nor anybody else.

And, WGT apparently doesn't describe correctly what the program does:

    From the FAQs:

How do I remove the flagstick?

Simply click on the Flagstick icon in the upper right hand corner of the game screen at any time to remove and replace the flagstick.

The shot at Kiawah happens to all of us, one of those stupid things that really should have been fixed by now.    At least you didn't end up several hundred yards away.

The second certainly hit the flag stick which does seem to indicate removing the flag once the shot has been played doesn't really remove it.  A confirmation from WGT would be nice though.

By the way, wasn't the 2nd shot Olympic?
