Thoughts please - New Tier Above Tour Legends?

  I totally disagree. At TL there are some players who dominate the game - they are the cream of the cream and deserve our respect.

  Sure some average TL's like myself will never compete against them but isn't that the drive?  That's life in general where someone, somewhere is simply better than you, but the drive should be to beat them.

  The same could be said of the VUS Open - because so and so is better, lets tier the Open - what bollocks.

  The biggest problem IMO are the paper legends who have been promoted via match play wins etc. Some of these guys are very very average.

  But then again, they get promoted, gift their winning to a "new" player and start again.

  There you go again. Disparity with what?

  Great players are being born with talent to compete with the top players everyday.

  I'm sorry WGTadmin2, but these so called 'despaired' players seem to be puckering from sour grapes. IMO

  No new tiers needed!

  But you're speaking of a few...maybe 50 or so, players.

   

  Heck, that's not going to be enough to fill RG's, as they play now.

   

  Why make it tougher for those guys to compete?

   

  I think I know the issue here...I'm willing to bet that it's less talented/capable TL's complaining...Being middle of the road, I'm not complaining that I want the top 50-100 TL's out, heck on those rare days I come ahead of them in a tourney, it feels good.

   

  The newer TL's, etc., need to suck it up and learn the game to compete instead of complain, same goes for all new players in any Tier.

  Make the new Tier.   Call it  Champion. etc.  Whatever.     Just make sure when you do you back up the tee boxes also.           I have heard several players  saying they need to make this game more challenging.   That anything that makes it harder we like.     I say move forward that's my vote.

  1. 1000 ranked rounds in Tour Legend Tier
  2. Average of 54.99 or lower

  Champion Tier to Tour Champion Tier:

  1. 1750 ranked rounds in Champion Tier
  2. Average of 53.49 or lower

  Tour Champion Tier to Hall of Fame Tier:

  1. 2750 ranked rounds in Tour Champion Tier
  2. Average of 52.99 or lower

  Hall of Fame Tier to Tour Hall of Fame Tier:

  1. 4000 ranked rounds in Hall of Fame Tier
  2. Average of 51.99 or lower

   

  However, I spotted a problem- WGT needs to create faster greens. We would need to think of a name for those greens.

  No need to make all those new tiers just change for Tour Legends only par 5 to par 4, par 4 to par 3 and par 3 to par 2 for any game they play.

  WGT if you do create a new tier at least get some credibility to it. Said my rationale behind that a while back in this thread.

  The fact WGT made it too easy to get "workarounds" get in to TL created the problem you have.  With respect though one look at Sun Tzu (used by West Point, Sandhurst, Duntroon as well as great business and etal), and you are in the wrong place to solve the problem:

  1.  Going forward no advancement should be based on just average (BOF etc F9, low wind CC syndrome).  Peoples choice of all courses (say bar 1 as a PC fun game) should be needed for any average calc.  OK wanna kid people so kick it in after TM??

  2.  VERY CONTROVERSIAL:  You need videos (cam behind, independently verified) of fantastic rounds.  I am sick to the teeth of cheat threads, and it's about time WGT did something to say look it's possible.  As no where near a top player I can see how players score so well, but every flipping week we get trash threads accusing.  WGT should put a stop to this.  

  3. IF you get some security (confidence of scores being real on a verified way) then the top players could have their own tier.  Note I am not disputing ability but transparency in king that's all, and top player's would welcome all these cheaps a$$ed shots being finally stopped. WGT could the fund this tier and OK for WGT to decide but as I see it it's all peanuts anyway.  IF WGT could so that then yeah that Q school would be huge, but no point otherwise for a top cream tier otherwise.

  Personally I think you should get some credibility back to a top tier (one that most can aspire to), and the rest well just ideas.........I am not there running the steering group, but some money is needed IMO to do what you want to achieve that I think is for sure.  If all you are trying to do is look for a quick way of getting more to look at 100 credit RGs it's not there.........

  I'm missing facts and arguments from the supporters.

  My guess (tongue-in-cheek): The disparity may be in credit winning and credit spending, or in the loudness of whining about it.

  A short look into the players' list reveals that the spread of average may be quite similar in all tiers from TP up: 22 to 28. Nevertheless, WGT focusses on the smallest of tiers with the intention to split it and to put yet another one on top, after only two years.

  *shakes head*

  But, it's in the Product Releases already, as a maybe. They will go their way regardless.

  Thanks for all the great ideas and summarizing a lot of the ideas found in other places.  The main issue we are trying to address is there is a huge disparity in skill among the Tour legends right now.  The whole purpose of the tiers is to group similar skill level together so you can have a fair and competitive game.  Can you think of a better solution?

   

  Real possible issues is that the Top tier will be less players and RG's and other tournaments will take longer to fill...

  How about the player's that aren't as competitive as the "best" put in the effort and dedication (not to mention HOURS of practice) that the "Best" do?  

  The premier players work their butts off to get & stay where they are and until we all (...and yeah I'm including myself here) are willing to give the same amount of time, effort & dedication as they do, then we have NO right to complain about "disparity".   If you do, then you are just a whiny little *****!  (and if you react to the whining WGT then you are showing your true colors = could give a rat's patootie about the people who made this game what it is).

  How about anyone who wins a weekly/monthly single play free to enter WGT competition at TL gets promoted to the new tier.........

  if a new tier is created , in a year from now then what ? where does it end ???
