Just wondering how many players are here from the older versions of Microsoft Links. Respond with your new WGT name & your old Links name and team. I'm just trying to maybe build a list of "old" players from Links golf to maybe get together and play here, one on one.

well YJ is right about almost all he said in that thread ,,im , MIB_CTGOLF Asst Capt of the MIB Team and I still think Links 2003 kicks WGT's ass in golf games ,,what sucked is when Microsoft sold the game closed the Zone where we all played ,,so had to find other places to play ,,ie direct connection thru the game & gameranger.com ,,still a lot of Linksters left just kinda scatterd over the net. MIB Team still plays in gameranger & on our Ventrilo .

I'd like to see ICQ catch on here. It was a great way to get hooked up for a game.

Yeah but the nice thing about ICQ was you could see who was online and a PM went to them instantly. Plus you could categorize your friends list based on the club they were in.

heh, Links 2003 and ICQ in the same thread....

    nostalgia sets in

We couldnt play Links online in Austtralia , our internet speeds wouldnt allow it.

I used to bash it around on my own.

ICQ however , for me was synonymous with the Internet, I was on the phone with my CSO at my very first ISP, when I heard my dial up modem scream and heard the handshake for the first time.
Once i was connected, he told me to avoid IE and put me on to Netscape and also then put me on to ICQ & Chat Planet. He was my first ICQ contact.
That was in 96 and i continued using ICQ till about 2001 after the sale to AOL, too many ads annoyed me, I progressed to Firetalk, which later became Paltalk.

Just a bit of useless trivia for ya.
