Seriously, the greens on this course are a joke. You can tap a putt and run it 40 feet past the hole, or not hit it hard enough and the ball comes right back at you.

Hit the ball on the green and you have no idea where it will end up.

I refuse to play this course anymore.

I love it. You should try it on Champ greens, you have to plan your approaches to get to the right position for putting.

'Practise makes perfect'. I can't imagine that anyone would get better at something by not doing it (although there's usually an exception to most things) so I would say keep trying.

Olympic used to be my most hated course on here, but my bloody minded attitude kept drawing me back there and I eventually worked out how to overcome the areas that kept tripping me up. I still fail badly sometimes when I play it, but I know that it can be beaten and it's much more satisfying for me to post a successful score at Olympic than say, St. Andrews for example.

Yeah, shame on wgt for not making the 5th and 6th easy birdie holes and making you think about your approaches a bit more.

They are the holes people love to hate on a course people love to hate, but grab a birdie there and you know you've done very well.  I love seeing a single play comp with Merion in heavy wind.  Sorts the men from the boys.

Merion is quite the 'chess game'. You can be "high on the hog" then 5 putt. But you know, they had a heavy wind single a month or so ago and I flipped a 61 after a lone bogey on 17 and was satisfied & very happy. I was thnking (big mistake) birdie-birdie or birdie-par and received bogey-par...still happy.

LOL. My first thought was the 40 foot run was the back pin on #3 after going long and the other one was the front pin on #7.  :-)

This is what happens , when you dont know how , to putt . You have been a member , since 2009 , and yet you are only a level 82 Master .

    Ranked Rounds 191

    Driving Acc. 73. 60 %

    G.I.R.56.70%

    Dist. 2 pin 20 ft.

This is not to berate you , but just to point you , in the right direction . I understand , that you have a life outside of this game . But just like with anything else in life , you still have to apply your self . You still will have to practice , and learn how to play this game , just like real golf .

Every course , is going to play the same way . It wont matter which course you play , until you learn how to play , expect the same type of results . Just like everyone else , you are going to have to put your time in . Yes Merion is a harder course too play , and it can really be frustrating . But all that you have to do , is learn how to play it .

Once you learn ball placement ,and course management , you can play any course , and shoot decent scores . So its up to you . You can cry and quit , or practice and learn . Its your call , and your game . Good luck with it . :-)
