The -2 part is meaningless. It's the gross score that's counted. Right now your average is 68. You shot a 34 for 9 holes. 9 hole scores are doubled to create an 18 hole score so you only shot your average of 68. (34X2). You need to shoot under 34 for 9 holes or under 68 for 18 holes to move your average down. It's an average so simple math would dictate.

BTW, had you shot -2 on one of the par 35 9 hole sides( a 33) you would have created a number that would have been less than your average and moved it down slightly.

BTW#2, playing to the average is about the best way to not enjoy this game. Forget the numbers and just play as well as you can all the time in ranked rounds. The numbers will move on their own. GL

It's your score that matters, not how much under or over par, because par is not the same for every course. While Kiawah is a par 72 course, Merion is a par 70 course.

Minus 2 for 9 holes on Kiawah is equal to a score of 68.

Minus 2 for 18 holes on Kiawah is equal to a score of 70 (68 on Merion).

With only a few TP rounds with an apparent average of >68, a 34 = 68 on a valid course should not lead to an average of 68.00 but higher. The calculated average from nine rounds between 34 and 47 is 75.111.

Your stats show 12 match wins against Masters and TMs - those you had in your current tier would push the average down.

Then, a 68.00 average doesn't move when you shoot a 34=68 as long as it is not saturated.
