    DarSum:

Can you imagine the sandbagging that would go on if they unlocked all clubs to everyone?

Can you imagine how many legends/tourmasters/masters would create new accounts, buy all the best clubs and completely clean house?

What they need to do is limit the clubs you can buy within your tier. Levels should not matter.

Let's use drivers for for example: once you become a Master you're limited to the R9 275yrd. Once you make TM you're limited to the R9 280yrd. Once you become Legend your should have NO limits on what you can buy.

Same scenario for all fairway woods, irons, wedges and putters. WGT should have put a cap on TIERS and what equipment they can buy.

The problem is what do you do with all the existing players that have already purchased the better equipment?

    very good post...

The current system isn't perfect, but at least Wgt is doing something to protect the field from sandbagging cheaters

this was just a idea but imagine if all the clubs were unlocked to everbody but everyone played of the same tees, it probably wouldnt work but it was a justa idea,.

Before Wgt meddled with the tier system in september, every equipment was unlocked after reaching that particular tier, some people rushed out (myself included) when they reached a new tier to buy the latest clubs to improve, some didn't and held back.  But to be honest, i don't think Wgt has gained or lost in this new system because people are still waiting untill a particular level to invest, rather than every tier like before.

I don't know why WGT doesn't refund every one's credits, and go back to the old system of unlocking at every tier, this will cut out sandbaggers better than the current system, and give people more incentive to progress.  I bet MOST tourmasters would rather stay on the shorter tees with their R11 driver, (as it is now) than legend tees any day.

And another reason; say some one is pretty good on this game, and gets the hang of it quite quickly, and goes through the tiers pretty fast, before he knows it he's a master/tour master, but still at level 30. What chance has this poor fellow got in competing, and it will take him/her ages to reach the levels to buy better equipment for his tier.

Bring back locked equipment for each tier, i'm sure people would much preffer it, and the people who don't, are probably the pro's on level 80 who use the 280 yard r9 off pro tee's and stick to challenge matches, if you know what i mean LOL

Most of the posts on this thread are "right on!".

I have a 292 yd driving average and when I meet a Pro or Tour Pro or even Master.....it is not at all unusual for them to out-drive me by 50, 60 or more yards! It is as if we are playing two entirely different golf courses.

(I still love ya WGT.........just sayin.)

There are so many different factors...

First, WGT is a business.  If they unlocked everything from the getgo, everyone would make one big investment, and pretty much every club below the best of everything would be obsolete.  After that, only new players would be really spending money, as everyone else would only need balls.  Not a good business model.  As is, you have to purchase new equipment as you go along to stay competitive, and you have to play a lot to get eligible for the equipment, thus using more balls.  So from that perspective, I understand what WGT has done.

However, it does dismay me when I see people who have lower levels than I, perhaps don't play nearly as much, but when they started everything was unlocked, so they have better equipment than I even though they are a lower level and lower tier.  In my opinion, any equipment that one does not qualify for, level-wise, should not be usable in tournament formats.  As a Tour Pro at level 54, I shouldn't have to compete against Tour Pros of level 50 using G10s they don't currently qualify to buy.

To me, that is worse than sandbagging.  If someone wants to hang around Tour Pro until they are 88 to use R11 against me... hey, more power to you, at least you did the work to get to 88.  But I shouldn't have to compete against players of lower level than myself that are using equipment I am not qualified to buy.

The manner in which WGT locks clubs encourages sandbaggers rather than keeps them from doing it.  The clubs are unlocked based on the points that you earn, not the tier that you get to by playing better.  Someone who is a level 80 can have all the good equipment and still be a tour pro if they manage their average.  I am a Legend and trying to compete against a tour pro with equal equipment just is difficult.  I think that while the teirs are good, the players should automatically advance if their levels get too high.  You don't want to see a pro at level 100 with the best equipment do you, at least I don't want to play them no matter what their average says since they can manage that very easily.

I totally agree with you Tarheel.  I recently came across a tour pro in a match play challenge.  I am by no means a great player, but am capable of 5-6 under par.  My bad for not looking at this persons profile before wagering with them.  They hadn't played a ranked round in over 4 months and were at a higher level than myself.  He/She (who really knows) played as well as the few Legends that I play with on and off....but from the Tour Pro tees.  You can't compete with people who do things like that, which is why I will not be putting money out for ready go's ; challenges; or anything else unless its with a player that I have had much experience with.

Great point...easy to spot these folks in MPC games and I just decline, problem is in RG's there's nothing you can do about...buy the time they've cashed in on all the RG credits and get bumped up, they'll just start a new account and begin gifting equipment from their other account.
