Thanks WGT for having a month long unlimited play UEL Tourney on Pinehurst for the WGT Nation members. The course plays extremely well in UEL. Course management is the key but there's scoring opportunities for the patient and cunning. GL to all members who play it. :)

great tournament, thanks WGT,  its hard to beat uneven lies when everything goes to plan

    i just shot a nice 62, 93% driving, 78% GIR and 100% scambling

    front9

    back9

putting was good, lots of 10-18ft putts and a few 5ft putts. made some nice long putts

Great play Marty. I've played it twice and couldn't putt to save my life. Wasted all kinds of birdie opportunities with putts sliding by on the high side. Must be a funk I'm into recently. Been missing high for about 2 weeks now on all courses.

During this month I'm going to play this with the starter clubs as well. That should be a supreme test. GL all. :)))

thanks, played it once and shot a 62, always good when that happens, thats the great thing about uneven lies you never know whats going to happen

just played a CC tournament with the same conditions and shot a 74, could not get close to the ding, it was single play which is a bit annoying, damage was done in the first 7 holes.

you never know what can happen in uneven lies

Shot a 34-30=64 in my first attempt, which matches my best score in the US Open qualifier. I think I'm finally getting used to championship greens.

I did have a silly bogey on the first par 5, though. I had an 8-iron approach which had a rtl sideslope that I estimated at about 15mph equivalent wind... and even though I missed the ding on the uphill side, the shot hooked wildly and ended up 20 yards left of the green. I then played a poor flop that didn't take the false edge into account and rolled back, and then my pitch shot attempt landed by the hole and actually backed all the way off again. I didn't even know that was possible.

I ended up putting that knowledge to use on 18 when I had a similar pitch, so it wasn't all bad.

+1 to that! Congratulations Dan on an outstanding score (that incidentally matches the 54 you posted with what I believe were identical conditions in the Qualifier).

Dan is one of the few remaining players in the very top echelon on WGT who hadn't yet revealed their hand as someone with UEL skills, so as an UEL advocate, it's very exciting to see this score (as well as being not a little terrifying, lol!)

I would argue that this helps show that the UEL game just needs strong-enough incentives to attract more (and the very best) players. The substantial purse on offer for this tourney is a welcome development...

... although, along with adding my gratitude that this tourney has been created, I do want to make a plea for such UEL events to get a similar format to the other prestigious WGT tourneys, namely to have a single-play element. Last year's similar Legends UEL Merion Challenge (right after the VUSO, essentially making it, like this one, the UEL community's premier annual event) was a 2-round tourney, first one being unlimited, second one being single-play, as are all the Virtual Tour events. (And of course, the VUSO itself has gone further this year in the single-play direction with 4 single rounds.) A month-long unlimited tourney isn't quite the same thing...
