I will take the advantage of a few more yards in to a head wind any day

Same here, especially since I see more headwinds than anything.  ;-)

I have both and this was how I thought too.  Then it hit me, my 2nd shot in a Hwind stops no problem.  It doesn't seem to matter if I'm 1 club longer.  In a Twind I want the shortest iron possible for the extra bite.  So, I seem to be using the BB a bit more now.

Good way to look at it.   Never thought about it that way and it makes sense to me.

I still want to wait until I hit L100 to rent the Nike first.  :)

Maybe by then something else will come out.   <fingers crossed>

I didn't like the L100 Nike too much. Still a nice club but I found I was losing too much distance off the tee.

The only difference between the L100 Nike and the L96 BB is 0.1 in forgiveness. So I presume they are both very similar

Went back to the R1 Driver. Overall I think it's a much better driver. So I would recommend this club.

The BB 3wood is great though

I also have both and bought a plus bag so I could quickly swap drivers depending on conditions.  Yeah, lazy git.

What I found was if I forgot to change and took the BB to a course with high winds my driving seemed to suffer a bit, maybe not a lot and almost certainly not as much as perceived.  If I took the R1 to a course with low wind I still drove well.

I've not used the BB for several weeks now and maybe never will again to be honest.  For me it was a slight compromise compared to the R1.

Don't forget the R1, although briefly available at L93, is actually a L98 driver and, generally at least, the higher the level the better the club.

This gets sooooo overlooked when players complain about "bad" winds. Headwind with partial spin is an excellent combination for accurate approaches. Kinda makes the driver distance irrelevant.

Only one time the R1 let me down trajectory wise was on Merion #14, had a heavy wind left to right  - I aimed well left and the ball smacked into the trees on the left.  Mind you - I have never tried another, higher loft driver to see if it clears the trees.

Also, very low incidence - will only come into play in very heavy crosswinds left to right - but you could probably overcome by aiming further right and hitting early.

Or using top spin to get it on the ground sooner for less wind influence.  :-)

Somehow in my experience it seems the R1 has done exceptionally well for me instead of the BB.

It could be that I've learnt how to use the R1 well whereas the BB is new to me and have not really had a chance to really prove or disprove itself as an excellent driver.

I suppose I need more time under the belt to get to learn the BB. So far the R1 has been doing better for me though!
