    SweetiePie:
Unique feature or my imagination ?

Doubt it's unique, the R1 doesn't have trouble with any trees that I know of. Doesn't mean you can't hit them but I don't.

    SweetiePie:

I use the Bertha. I use it with the Nike RZN Black. My driving stat is 88.6 %. When I play Alt Shot, I am rarely/never out driven and I'm always in the best fairway location. I like the high trajectory. I am not even close to the consideration of a different product. ~ SP ~

I use the R1 with Nike Level 70 ball----and I'll give u a run for your money off the tee anyday....lol   look me up or send me a friend request would love to play ya anyway.

    SweetiePie:

the high trajectory of the Bertha seems to have "special magic" when faced with the holes we have that introduce those pesky tree branch ball snatchers. The ball goes right through them.

    re: trees

Perhaps. I've read somewhere that a ball w/ BS can go thru trees better than no spin, and I thought it had something to do w/ the ball spinning. Most times, it seems to work for me.

Then I thought I saw that the BS changes the traj. higher and it looked like the ball was going over the tops of the trees more so.

But I have the R1 wht and the BB but it depends on how I feel, or maybe the conditions of the wind or terrain.

e.g. If I believe there will be high tail wind I may use the BB because the higher traj. keeps the ball in the air longer so it seems my drives go farther, esp. with 1/2 BS (not full BS)

Also, the BB w/ a little more BS may have more stopping power, (I'm guessing, and still testing) so I'll use it for narrow fairways like Pinehurst and Congressional. etc.

The higher traj. driver w/ a front wind may introduce better stopping power, if needed. But maybe it just won't work out in your favor.

But the R1 I may use for a more open course like RSG and I let the ball roll. But accurate power adjustments are required for the doglegs.

It's also my guess that I am better at dinging the R1 than the BB.  It seems the area around the ding goes a little faster with the BB. But that could all be in my head.

Again, It depends on wind power, direction and terrain, yet all of which I'm am still taking notes.

That is a swell offer, however, except for nivlac (wgtniv ~ calvin) 5 years ago, I have not sent out a single friend request...I avoid the "Sadie Hawkins" method...LOL... But, I would otherwise be most pleased to accomodate your desire. ~ SP ~

I have both, and can't explain why, but the BB wins it for me ........ into wind a no brainer, play with just off full backspin ;-)

I have both and they both seem to have their place. The r1 is better on fast fairways like SA. the big bertha is more forgiving to me so i use it on narrow fairways. Distance over all is not more than a few yards either way.The distance of most drives depends on where you hit the fairway. In head wind use full back spin with the Big Bertha. There are a few trees that I have hit with the r1 but never hit with the big bertha (Congressional, Bethpage 2, few others). Both are great drivers. Just a personal preference.

Depends on which R1  you are speaking of.   Of course we all know the R1 Black out hits them all.    By 10/12 yards depending on wind, spin used, and ball used.    But it outhits all the rest anyway.    :)   We all know that.

I play the R1 with the Callys level 35 and 39 and I consistently out drive the BB in to a head  wind by a few yards even against mid level rated 5 distance Nikes, the BB will out drive my R1 with a tail wind but not by more than 5 or 6 yards,so in summation the R1 out drives the BB in to a head wind but the BB drives a little farther with a tail wind,,the difference is the height trajectory,,and I will take the advantage of a few more yards in to a head wind any day so I'm sticking with my R1........

Same here, especially since I see more headwinds than anything.  ;-)
