In honor of Play 9 Day - I have a few questions for you all :)

  Hi everyone:)

  As you have noticed, today is the Play 9 Day and WGT is helping the USGA get the word out. The USGA wants golfers to think more about playing 9 holes of real-world golf, so they can play faster and maybe play more often. So, we were wondering ...

  1.  Are you playing more or less real-world golf this year? And virtual golf on WGT?

  2.  Do you play more 9 hole or 18 hole rounds of real-world golf? And virtual golf on WGT?

  3.   What about the option to play WGT Closest-To-The-Hole games on a real-world golf course?

  Less of both.  Torn rotator cuff.  No golf for me until I get some surgery I've been delaying for a long time.

  9 on here almost every time, 18 IRL almost every time.

  Pass.  If I wanted to be humiliated, I'd live with my mother.  Good idea for players that don't stink though.

  It's been an off year for me ... it started out as more, then I broke my hand in February and wasn't able to even swing a club until late May.  Now I'm back to playing at least once a week.

  Definitely 18 holes over 9 holes.  I do play more 9 hole rounds on WGT.

  I vote "no" on this option for real golf ... I don't even like CTTH or Blitz on this game.  IRL, CTTH is played on the practice putting green ... at least for me.  The winner chooses the next hole and starting point.  Usually, you'll play for $1 a hole.  I'm just wondering how CTTH (like WGT's CTTH) would be played IRL ... drive the cart to the 150 yd marker and see who can get closest?

  Unfortunately my local course's are not within the GolfNow or play9 network and do not offer 9 hole green fees.

  Normally get two 18 holes in a week..but warm the arm up on a pitch and putt course..

  Home course is Baviera , but do Miraflores too...occasionally Atalaya 

  The clubs I'm a member of are more for party's , get togethers usually.... but play them once a month...tbh they're more of a status symbol..................

  Less WGT this year and more RL golf..the reasons you know.

  But still hit more virtual balls than real ones, and costs me more too !! :)

  Never CTTH irl, & played it once here in months as it was Yancy :))

  1. A lot less on wgt, pitiful course/conditions selections. Many times I settle for the 1 hole for CDP. But hey wgt saves me lots of credits, by discouraging me to play.

  2. 99% 9 hole rounds.

  3. Absolute worthless.

  1. More real world golf this year than the past  few years.. at least 1 or 2 times / week.  
  2. Much much less WGT.   Unlimited tourney's are a waste of golf balls - and it's very very very hard to get match play games / skins games, etc. etc.

  1. Almost always play 9 on WGT. 
  2. As far as real world golf and this Play 9 thing .. It's one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard of.   I don't know anyone who goes out and plays 9 holes ... unless you belong to a very private club.  Clearly some rich azz USGA executive thought that one up.  As Dan said very few courses have 9 hole rates, you play for Green Fees period --- and if your an occasional golfer like me (40 to 50 rounds / year) when you take a day off from work or family to play golf - you play the full 18.  I can just imagine showing up at a local muni or public course by yourself to play 9 ... you'd be playing all alone .. not much fun in that.

  By the way ... i'd be amazed if anyone who plays real golf will play faster - just because they are playing 9 holes !!!

  1. Seriously ?   I'm going to pay $60 to $120 green fees & cart fees (required on a lot of courses in the NY Metro area) and hit either 9 or 18 shots ?   Never happen.

  Bit more real world, but time constraints mean not much anyway.  WGT tailed off as slow moving.  Pro Shop is stuck on levels even for TLs, and my thought's on that well known.  Nothing there for me at the moment anyway, but would be nice to see more selection but not if it's L102 as no interest in chasing those numbers quicker than happens anyway.  More single play please and listen to the RG ideas.

  Mostly quick fire 9s here, and mostly single play these days.  I seldom even look at 18 hole unlimiteds apart from the big ones R1 which guess fair enough.  I just will not play the big ball burning game usually. RL 18 is the norm.

  No interest in CTTH any which way.  Well slight fib as a few beers on a simulator can be fun for a giggle once in a while with a few mates from memory.

  1.  I'm playing a lot less golf in real life the last few years due to financial constraints. If I could afford to I'd play real-world golf almost every day.

  My WGT golf runs in spurts but I'm playing less this year than last due to issues in real life. Also, my irritations with you, the moderators, and WGT personnel in general just don't make this as much fun any more. I don't have complaints about the way the game actually plays; I recognize I don't play enough rounds to warrant that.

  2.  Real world golf these days is always 18 holes. Years ago when I was away from home on work travel I would almost always squeeze in 9 holes after work during the week and play anywhere from 18 to 54 holes on a weekend day. Money wasn't as much of a factor then and I didn't have the daily family obligations on the road. It was sightseeing, play golf or vegetate in a hotel room. Now I just budget the time and money and play 18.

  It carries over to this game. I very much prefer to play 18 hole rounds here on WGT. 

  3. CTTH in real life doesn't interest me in any way, shape or form. If I'm going to take the time and make the effort to get to a course I'll hit all the shots, thank you. Including the follow-up shots to my own good and bad ones.

  dont play real world golf but i can answer the wgt parts of the questions.

  1. playing a bit less on wgt.

  2. always play 18 hole rounds, if you have a bad front 9 you can always try and get some birdys on the back 9.

  3. dont think its a good idea
