Flawed Average Calculations

  I have just jumped up 2 AVG. Points following a 9 hole match play (that lasted 6 holes).  I did play very well, it was a hot streak undoubtedly, but I don't see how WGT can calculate, based on that one anomalie, a drop of 2 AVG.points.  This is patently ridiculous, especially as I have, on numerous occasions, played 18 hole stroke plays, finished with 74+ and seen no alteration what-so-ever to by AVG (and no the 74 wasn't deliberate - I sometimes such, go figure).  I want to know why Averages are calculated in this way and how they are done so because 6 holes of golf just isn't enough for that sort of jump.  Feel like WGT is trying to bump me to a higher tier so my equipment becomes inferior and, thus, I'm forced to purchase new stuff.  Very unimpressed by this - has anyone noticed anything similar?

  Never in a mp loss maybe u didnt notice the avg after a bad stroke play round and think its cause of the match play

  You beat a Legend. Therefore WGT thinks you must be good.

  Thanks for the info.  The nature of match play means that, occasionally Legends play bad and Masters have their day in the sun.  Really sceptical as to how that is able to accurately determine my average.

  It makes sure that this "sunny" win doesn't pass unnoted. An anti-sandbagging measure which is good for the turnover.

  Also,if you did not know this.Once you play a set number of game's in your teir,Your ave will no longer go up.

  Average, beverage, leverage, whatever. I am no way in hell a 66 avg golfer. I am lucky to be a mid 80 golfer. The game will assign your average based on the rounds you shoot (scored rounds). If you beat better players of higher tiers you average will drop rapidly and you will reach a new tier. If you wish to sand bag then go for it, it is allowed here. If you want to be who you are then go play your best and move up. Just a comment from an old squirrel who has witnessed it all on this game.

  + 1 also players who worry about their average will never make Legend or Tour Legend either . So play the game do your best and have fun .

  I actually made a mistake in the wording of my original post - my average shot down 2 points, not up.  I never intentionally shoot bad rounds and I never sandbag but I want the average to be a true reflection of my ability, not a completely inaccurate inflated (or deflated) figure.
