I think any TM who has an average under 70 should have to play with starter clubs. That would be about equal in length and skill! JMO :)

Speaking of TMs and their averages, if they raise the average at which a TM becomes a legend, to, say, 63, that would force TMs that can compete with us to become legends.  Something to consider.

Don't know what the average is for elevation to Legend now from the ranks (as opposed to being taken up in the rapture a couple of months ago), but if it is about 62 that is an extremely hard number to hit or hold. Conversely, one could seem to sandbag away from that figure without really trying. Meanwhile, lots of legends who were taken up in the rapture point out that they aren't really all that legendary....

Yep, exactly.  I think I've seen a TM as low as 61.5.  I could be crazy, but I'm pretty sure I saw it.

At the very most, it is 62.00 or 62.01: http://www.wgt.com/user/profile.aspx?UserID=656027

Just curious, but the loudest voices on the topic of legend driver are coming from Tour Masters? I know most of you say you know all about playing from the back tees because of the Open qualifiers. Apples and oranges boys, the Opens were extreme conditions and only the best qualified. Now imagine playing those conditions EVERY single fkn round. While it is very satisfying to shoot a low number in these conditions, it is not fun the rest of the time when wind conditions dictate IF it is even possible to score at all. Middle of the road Legends are at a severe disadvantage and anyone with half a brain can see this. WGT  I suspect has more worries (zero capitol, zero cash flow) than us little old Legends who can't buy anything to help our plight even if we wanted to lol. Just admit you totally screwed up by what most would consider a nice golf sim into a chopped up disaster. In what other business do you alienate your most loyal customer base and survive? The answer is ZERO!!!!! The clock is ticking, what are you gonna do? Adapt and overcome, or die on the vine? Btw the guy who lives on the island, the next good point you make in these forums will be your first. JB

Well, as one Tour Master, I'm just hoping that if and when I ever make Legend, there'll be longer equipment available to make up for SOME of the difference. I'm trying to bring my level up by 1 every other day, because I suspect that when (not if) longer new equipment comes in, it will be at level 100 or so.

The top 10 PGA players in driving distance average 300 yards or better, and the top 100 are about 290 or better:

Lots of interesting stats there. I would imagine that WGT 'virtual' stats would be in a similar range.

For the record, I'm not bashing TM in any kind of way. You guys did nothing but wake up one morning in the catbirds seat. WGT messed this thing up, and now can't seem to figure out what to do. Legend ball? Unmitigated disaster for sure. The main problem is that WGT put WAY too many people in the Legend tier. I play quite a bit with the very best in this game and trust me when I tell you, they are playing a game of which I'm not familiar. Well off to card another -1, or -2 round smooth. JB

But if you're looking for one area in which WGT is unrealistic, it is not that the drives are too long or too short. It is that the irons are too accurate. According to PGA statistics, the best average distance from the hole on approach shots is about 30 feet (10 yards), and the top 100 are within about another 5 feet:

How many top WGT players would be happy with their approach shots landing an average of 10 yards from the hole?

I was bumped to Legend last week, if I remember correctly, my average was at 62.7 when I shot a 29 and it dropped to 61.8, so it's somewhere between those two. Quite the learning curve, but it's not terrible. Although hitting 3 and 4 iron into tourny greens makes you want to pull your hair out. I do agree that there needs to be a legend driver though, some holes are just flat out not fair, especially if you're into the wind.

This isn't "PGAsimulator.com". PGA player's stats are completely irrelevant. This is a virtual golf game, PGA players dont get to click a button and have the ball go where they want 80% of the time. If irons are too accurate, what is the purpose of this game at all? Who would play this game if you were to hit perfect shots that never ended up where you aimed? That is the purpose of a video game, to do what you can't/wont do in real life.
