  According to that process, for each team that means the following players in this order (note that we will call upon each player in that order, but may have to skip a player depending on whose availability fits best with the substitution need at the time):

  Would it not just be a "captains pick"? After all, it's up to the real ryder cup captains who they pick and it's not necessarily in order of what place they qualified in.

  Captain's picks are still Captain's picks. (I think) Corwyn is talking about who to choose next from the qualification tables for when a qualified player rules themselves out.

  Exactly so. Mags is spot on. 

  We are trying to honor the players that made a commitment to playing frequently during the qualification process (the weekly UEL events as part of the UEL Spring Tour), who, per our stated criteria, should be the first people called upon to fill gaps of those now not available. (And the same process will be followed should any players become unavailable during the event, or have to miss one particular series.) 

  That said, both myself and the US Captain, Russ (ColumbusStorm), have strongly indicated our desire to see would-be team representatives (either as alternates or captain's picks) continue to play and demonstrate form in the ongoing weekly and monthly UEL tourneys. I have no doubt that commitment shown to those tourneys will be an influencing factor.

  Captain's picks will remain, with both teams getting 2 'free choices' (and the US team also getting an additional pick for iconian, who is not permitted to play in the weekly UEL tourneys).

  I will send out PMs to all the named players above, and to a number of alternates on each team based on the qualification standings, and ask that all players please fill out the Time Availability Form in the next 2 weeks, by Mon Sep 8th.

  Just a reminder that today is the last day (deadline midnight tonight, WGT time) to get your Availability information filled out on the Time Availability Form. 

  If we haven't heard from you, and don't have your playing times, we'll pass over you and move on to the next players in line.

  The UEL Ryder Cup starts in just under 2 weeks from now...

  Sadly, both teams have experienced withdrawals. On the ROW team, neither TallAcePaul nor Wontonamo are available, and niqueclyde has not responded to repeated PMs and WallPosts.

  Thus, the ROW team adds the next three players in line (who have responded and provided availability data) from the qualification process as fully-fledged players for the event: stevereilly, cricketrules, Dazza501. Congratulations to the three of you who I'm sure will make ROW proud!!!

  Team ROW also has a new list of alternates: 1. Bonalyau. 2. LOLserver ... and will approach others for additional back-up (this time based on frequent players of the summer series of weekly UEL single-play tourneys)

  For Team USA, poolmaniac6 is unavailable, and gishdrums has not provided availability data by yesterday's deadline (and an extension this morning). Reluctantly, we need to move forward and take the next player in line. Thus, the US Team adds two players from their next-in-line list: Golfhawk is unavailable, but devonnnnn and CerinoDevoti are available and have filled out their data, so are now fully-fledged players for the event (congratulations!).

  Moosetaya becomes the 1st alternate for the US, and likewise, US captain Russ (ColumbusStorm) has a list of players I will approach for availability data for additional alternate back-up through the tourney, also coming from frequent players of the recent summer weekly UELs.

  I will use the next few days to assemble the Availability spreadsheet, and work with captains to figure out viable pairings for each team, and see if captains' blind 'secret envelope' line-ups will work out. Please anticipate notification of matches by this coming weekend for our first week series, September 20-29.

  Corwyn plays for ROW while sporting a US flag and devonnnnn plays for US with a Canadian. That isn't confusing at all, no sir.
