This is a general complaint about the club swing algorithm.

If I didn't know better (and maybe I don't), I would accuse the program of cheating.  It seems that the swing meter algorithm calculates the cursor hit position such that the ball is struck by the player to go toward the worst hazard in the vicinity of the shot.  Multiple times, on multiple courses, I have placed my shot flag in a manner to obviously avoid a hazard, such as a fairway bunker, only to have the swing gauge accelerate or slow such that my shot either pulls or slices directly toward said hazard.

Also, the algorithm used to calculate shots from roughs is wacky.  I was one (1) yard off the green, and attempted to chip about 12 yards (long green), hit the swing meter exactly on the mark, and the shot whiffed; didn't even make it to the green (went about 2 inches).  I've noticed that the only way to hit a short shot is to hit a soft full wedge, but that's not the optimal shot to take in a lot of cases. Bottom line, Flop, Pitch and Chip don't work very well at all.

I'm very disappointed with this "game", and will be uninstalling it.

The starter clubs are just that, very rudimentary. They actually take the most practice to produce high quality results. Shots around the greens such as chip, pitch and flop take the most practice of all to master with the starter gear. Bottom line, it takes a while to get used to the performance of that set. If you're comparing them to real world golf equipment they would be about a $100 set from Walmart. With that kind of equipment course management is paramount. Hitting to the center of greens instead of at the pins will save strokes in the end.

Recently you moved up to Pro Tier and with that comes a move to a tee box one step farther away. The approach shots will be farther and with that comes missing more greens. Depending on your wants and desires re: this game it's about the time you may want to upgrade the clubs.

Don't quit. It just takes time and some investment.
