    Dear fellow WGT members,

I am reaching out to you all because I am at my wit's end with the ongoing and worsening playing conditions I am encountering. I am hoping someone out there has a solution.

I have a 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina display and use high speed internet. When I first started on WGT, I had good luck with Safari. Then it became problematic and I went to Firefox. After a while, that also became a problem. I switched to Chrome which also worked well and then didn't. Chrome has developed a cursor issue - it speeds up near the end of the swing, making almost impossible not to be late. The other 2 have consistently stuttering and jerky swings. I recently went back to Firefox and had a good week or two, but it has once again become stuttery and jerky.

I have seen some of the WGT Forums and, based on that, tried Opera. This proved to be useless.

Because I can't seem to find a I am losing at least 2-3 strokes per 9 holes these days. Does anybody out there have a solution they could share with me?

    Thanks,

    Rolf (aka Maestrobertsch)

Make sure you have done all that can be done regarding routine maintenance on your computer.

Right before you play WGT - Clear your browser of cookies and other site and plug-in data, temp internet files, auto fill info, browsing history, download history, cached images and files, hosted app data, and passwords.

Clear all the web sites listed on the Flash Player Website Privacy Settings panel.

Be sure there is minimal other processing going on in the background on your computer when you play WGT, and that the WGT game client is the only tab open on your computer.

Be assured, Rolf. it's all your fault -or your IP, or a rogue route via the Ukraine, Sikkim and Tunisia; or a whale has collided with a cable near the Scilly Isles.

Not a cheap ole server setup at WGT's IT partner or the Office Junior left in charge while everyone else went surfing in Hawaii.

Shame on you that you could suggest otherwise,

I use a macbook too, and close all other apps, clear caches on browser and flash very often, the meter is half the time ok and half the time it speeds up a lot or stutters. My CPU usage is below 5% and if it goes up even a tiny bit, say to 10%, the meter jumps.

I found no improvement with safari and continue to use chrome. Disabling pepper flash helped a little I think.

I also find using the inbuilt trackpad has a slight, but important, delay in registering the click, so I am getting cheap mouse to plug in to see if that improves the response time.

And of course when I play multi, the meter issues get worse.

My point was - do what you can do - rather than depending on WGT.

I clear cache now like 3 or 4 times in a 18 hole round, shut down chrome and restart too, and after a couple of holes the meter is speeding up or jumping. That is as good as it gets.

There comes a point when we have to keep on doing so much all the time just to have a basically acceptable standard of meter that it does get ridiculous, doesn't it?

Yes, it is ridiculous we have to jump through so many hoops when our PCs far exceed WGT's minimum performance specs.

    Seriously?

So what you're really saying is that if you're not computer savvy then forget about playing this game?

Whatever happened to click 'Play Now' and off you go - man, those were the days, eh?

I used to play this game on the same machine I played my other games as well as my SolidWorks work on. Game was a constant battle.

I now play this game on my old T-61 Lenovo laptop, 1gb ram, on wifi over cable connection. I Run Opera, never clear anything. I have Skype running, Synapse and malwarebytes. I use my old MX 518 mouse as well. That's it.

For the most part, my game is butter smooth. I rarely have issues. You do not need a high-end machine to play this game, it's not an exec game. The performance of this game is greatly dependent on your 'network' health and connection.

The one thing I do make sure of, is that only the game client window is open. Nothing else. Well Skype. If I do notice anything Skype gets closed and it goes away.

Apex I follow those steps like 3 times a round, just to make it playable, even then, just the first stroke and no more plays smooth at the expected speed for my equipment, after the first shot it speeds up, after the first hole it starts to skip and I am fire fighting. After around 2-3 holes of fighting to save par, i rinse and repeat and do it all over again.

It takes a lot of the fun out of the game, and I run hardly anything else at the same time, my cpu usage does not go above 10 %, when it approaches 10% the meter skips. Even then most of the skips occur at 5% and below CPU usage, which is pretty much idle rate.

Anyway, I am thinking of ways to deal with playing with a bad meter, the effort it takes to have a clean smooth meter for one shot means 5 mins preparation just for that shot and then it goes downhill after one shot.

I'll just keep on doing what I have to do...but I think its incorrect to say the fault or issue lies always at the user side.
