    Ed,

Portland or Florida will be my next stop.  So I will keep you in mind.  We are more then happy to help with players finding others in your area.  We can send out targeted emails to players who are in the area.  I think after I do the one in NY/NJ I personally will have a better idea of how this will work. I think we would definitely need a point person in the area who wants to kind of run things once everyone is there.

I don't know if you have seen this thread yet, but it is a decent start.

I've a suggestion you might want to mull over....open up, expand the current forum to have "Regional Boards".

A few of my Car/Hot Rod sites have this...have met many folks face to face this way..

    I/e take Cal for example

    Northern Cal Board

    Southern Cal Board

(in fact on forum I go to has a Central Cal Board)

Verification could be part of the process..future Regional Tourney's, ...think NCAA, etc., well, you can take it over from there;)

Ha!  You are just trying to make more work for me!

Seriously though that is a perfect idea for all this.  Set up regional tournaments also.  Play a virtual round the a IRL round.  Best combined scores win.  Hmmm the interesting possibilities.

    WGTdbloshoe:
ad news, but we had to cancel the live event that was scheduled for December.  There was just not enough interest in the event to justify it.

In all honesty I had assumed it was solely aimed at being a corporate event.  The expecting players to travel to Flo in December "part" was never going to work.

    WGTdbloshoe:
So we are going to focus on more virtual events.

Can't help but think I might have one go more often if both rounds were single play.  Guess some one better has done the counting, but fwiw my interest in multiply goes from time, ball burning cost and likely hood of getting anywhere anyway is low.  Probbaly not much to think about there but said anyway.

    WGTdbloshoe:
Which is one reason I am doing the In person get together in NY/NJ.  I am hoping we can get 10-15 players.

    That is a nice touch.

    WGTdbloshoe:
    smaller regional events

Again with what else you said around it sounds a good one.

    WGTdbloshoe:
We will be rolling out our Twitch initiative next week.

What comes across over an over is that so many players do not understand how some shoot so low so consistently.  In fairness any activity IRL that has undergone scrupulous testing has found bad eggs, and here no testing.  Don't want to start a whole tangent as more play lets you see how it can be done even if I may not do it near as much, and 51 at Merion I am never going to get near with a 100 goes I would think (and I choose 9 holes usually anyway so not going to find out either).  At some point more events with verified everything would be a good thing.  Any player can play after the main even maybe, and verification of all "hardware" done by a very competent respected third part.  long way of from the utopia of a way more secure game anyway but something??

Leave it there, but any plans???.

    WGTdbloshoe:
who must also stream their final round on Twitch in order to share the 500,000 credit purse

Not being a techie or cyber security guru, not sure if this addresses some of that, but looks a good move on the face of it.  Fun any way granted.

    WGTdbloshoe:
While Golf Channel won't be co-hosting the WGT LIVE event in Dec, they're still covering the Virtual Tour online and interviewing the Tour Legend winners from the Virtual Tour majors in Sep and Nov, as well as the Virtual Tour Championship in Dec, so great exposure.

    Again good stuff.

If you decide to come up to Portland I am sure that between myself, I am Yancy, Medford Mel and Orebudster - you will have an event that will go into the history books (or at least hysterical books)  that will be more exciting for you than getting your first member in your Take Down WGTIcon CC.....

    Keep Portland weird....

You know the funny thing, Icon won't even join my club :(

Yes I am...heard it through the grapevine, Icon seems to think you've been slacking, hence his vacation.

I don't want to start anything between you two, but he did say...oh wait...open forum...never mind.

I believe WGT has a business relationship with the USGA? Why not forward an idea to them as Regional partner organizers of WGT member events in the US? They could do some of the leg work and stand as point in different regions of the Country. Perhaps hold some Regional meet ups of WGT members at Regional USGA Golf events?

Regional get togethers  sounds doable. You have to keep it reasonable, not $200+ . I think WGT will have to supply the point guy/girl as I don't see somebody spending their time and money on this.

Hope you can put something together.

It will generate moral support, but as far as people going that extra mile...I just don't see it happening.

Agreed.  The concept is a good one and many here applaud the effort by you all to extend the scope of our community, but most of us are not in any position to afford a trip that many would view as extravagant.  Besides, I've watched paint dry, not fun...:)

Have to tell ya...let me start off saying I'm not a "gamer"...that said..

A few  years ago, Bollux issued an open challenged, 5K credit MP games...Icon hosted one with BiB and Avatar Lee at SA...I tell ya, I spent an hour watching it on Icons hosting thing he had, ...now...fast forward a few years, if I knew the likes of BiB, Dansamcan, Mags, etc, were going to be playing in the final (not to intentionally leave anyone out) and I was close enough to attend, I'd spend a few hours to watch these guys go at it...wouldn't be like paint drying for me...might be because I've had some contact via playing or messages with some of the top players, and they are really nice folks.

Would be cool to see the top guns at WGT duking it out.

Let me try to simplify this without any snide comments or negativity. Everything in life is possible if one wants it bad enough. This is just one persons perspective on this subject. Shoe is going to some pretty lengthy maneuvers here by putting himself out there in the real world & taking the risk of some unexpected things happening. Let’s leave it at that. I am sure appropriate security for his safety is his and WGT’s main concerned equaling the interest of generating advertisement and revenue. It is a business and it shall be run as a professional one I would venture a guess. The simplicity of this is that it can be simply advertized by word of mouth at different (regional) local golf courses to the targeted market. The people that already have an interest in the game. This is pretty simple folks. All one has to do is go to the local courses and talk to management about having an informal meet & greet for the people who play this game in the areas. It will be a win for the 19th hole in revenue and the interest generated by the attendees that are members of WGT playing a few games for on lookers to see firsthand what WGT is all about will bring in new applicants and the revenue that ultimately will go along with it. There is nothing better than a bunch of people having fun to grab the attention of others who want in on the fun. There is nothing high tech about this, nor is there any real need for it to get to where Shoe & WGT are trying to get to. Making more money. It is what keeps the servers pretty much pi$$ing us off. If the servers go down due to no new revenue then all your hard work and friendships made over the years will have been for naught. You have to put in to get out. Now that being said, I would recommend that a LOT of people in here need to LOSSEN UP for this to work. Spelling corrections and the small crap aside, most of the Avatars I see posting tend to be a bit grinding at times to newer or less educated folks who do not know about the forums to begin with. That is the negativity that is killing this idea before poor Shoe even lands in NJ. Things take time sure, but the more help Shoe has from interested people in doing some local leg work can really do some fantastic things for WGT and Shoe & his advancement in the company. What the heck is wrong with that? He is extending his hand and offering people a ground floor opportunity here so to speak. I’m pretty sure that WGT’s marketing dept. (apparently me at the moment) will help any interested individual that REALLY wants to put WGT’s BEST FOOT FORWARD.

There is a plethora more that needs to be said here but much to limited of space & patience. That is why I typed this on word and transferred it into the forum. I am really tired of checking 10 times for typos. Mostly from fear of retribution. Yeah right.

I do have 1 question though. I am making an assumption here, but some of the top players may have disabilities that allow them the time to put into this game to become the level they have reached. That also can be worked out. Just putting out there for maybe a reason some cannot make a pilgrimage. So short story is if some folks are interested in approaching their local golf courses they should step up and announce themselves and from there a well calculated plan can come together in the way of informing the real life community of something to take up the cold winter days & nights and the virtual community in here may have a chance to sit down & meet a few of themselves & pass on the fun in here. I cannot stress enough about the LOOSENING UP a bit to make this work. There are age differences in here & a plethora of different points of views also. Taken into consideration the foundation of the rules and etiquette of golf which we all know I think Shoe’s idea could be a real humdinger.

“Can’t we all just get along”?  I heard that some where before. So there it is a simple idea, as the person who mentioned the California thing about different local boards or something, that is a worthy start from an interested person. Sorry about the type face but I really am sick of those stupid missed typed forum blocks. As I said Shoe I live near a bunch of courses & I think in this economy they would welcome any amount of people coming in their doors for an event that will bring new ideas to their patrons. Especially this time of year on the east coast of New England. My son used to go to a business that had pople brought ther own compuers to game with each other. This coud be t same thing fr winter playfor local folks. How easy was that. MY fee? We'll get to that.

Wow. Did Pee really just write all that? Whew. Who knew.

I have other ideas for simplicity Shoe should you be interested you may do a friend thing & I will send my personal E-Mail.

Good luck to all that want to be a part of something larger than yourselves. I’ve done  mine. MR. Caddie, I will be getting back to you soon. Understood all. You certainly continue to do your part.
