    Howdy folks,

    Well, BPB just welcomed me to Master Tier.  And by welcomed, I mean I now can safely skip my next prostate exam.

    My question for you more experienced players is:

    If you had to go back, would you buy good irons or a longer driver first?

    I say 'first', because it's one or the other for me for the time being.  One will have to wait a bit ("we're" budgeting).

    Also, I'm looking at the PING G25 irons (59+).  Really want the high trajectory. Recommended?

    Thanks in advance,

    S.

    +100 to the high trajectory => G25s!

    Since you have a lvl34 driver and lvl 10 irons, you might want to get better irons first. Before, check out Kiawah back 9 and Merion (back 9?), because there are the longest distances to fairway from the tees. These, combined with headwind, might perhaps call for a longer driver first(?).

    And, get rid of that Starter wedge unless you know of any use for it (which I don't!). At some time (e.g. level 76+), a good wedge of 100 yds may fit well there.

    Talking budget, white balls cost less than lime ones ;)

    The no brainer cream at M / TM.  Also see you to Legend and allow you to settle in there.

    L33 Cally as cream IMO or L34 as cream ++ if want the slo mo.  Real big main thing accept one iron / wedge / ball set up and learn / map thoroughly - see forums >>>>>>>>>>

    Start swapping around that combo, and only blame that for things going walk a bout.

    Work hard on putting as ever of course. Loads again >>>>>>

    Do NOT need to be wasting credits on expensive balls at the Master level.

    1. get better wedges. the L42 pings are good

    2. Get the L48 R1. I had that, and the L15 bladez were just fine at the Master level. Made TM with that combo, along with a 10 cent distance ball

    3. Then get better irons

    I have some L39 ATVs that are working well, but I do need to ditch the horrific Starter SW.  I'm in the process of dealing with that.  Either gonna go with the 105 or 100 yard ATV.  That'll give me a good 123 with the 105/100, 86, and 50.  The 86 does most of the work and it's my go-to.

    As for splurging on lime balls, c'mon, it's 10 more cents!  I just threw 10c away in my car because it was sticky!  And, I don't move beyond the GI2-S that have great stopping power with my ATVs, but crap with my irons.  I'm hoping that new irons solve that problem.  I'll get into buying pricy balls when it's with winnings, if ever.

    So, a lot of good advice, and I'll probably go with the irons first.  I really can't stand the current set.  It's basically a game of getting it to my wedges without muffing it, and rightfully so for the level I guess.

    @derekortt

    Did you find your spin was adequate with the blades using a 10c distance ball?

    I think what he's saying is that you don't spit-shine a turd.  Using expensive balls with cheap clubs is really a waste of money.  Unless you just want to whip out the wallet and spend like Zsa-Zsa, going cheapo on balls while you save up for clubs that will last (as opposed to balls that wear out).  I for one am reticent to give gear advice to anyone under level 45 unless they've made it crystal clear that money is absolutely no object to them.  Otherwise, when they get high enough and simply cannot compete without a certain level of gear, they're going to seriously regret spending money so early on.  Credits are a premium for quite a while to those who don't spend actual money on the game.

    Steve, let me know when you've got your irons, and I'll send you a driver.

    you had to play some run out, but it was quite manageable on 95% of the holes. As I stated, I had enough control to make tour master with that combo. The L48 R1 driver was the big help, not the irons. Felt as if it was cheating using that driver from the master tees.

    Get that driver before you get any iron upgrades

    Sage advise...by now you know your irons. The addition of a new, longer, more accurate driver does wonderous things at once. It will instantly give you shorter approach shots, more greens hit and shorter putts the first time you play with it.

    Really?  That would be awesome.  I'm not above taking hand-me-downs so long as it gets me that extra 20-40 yards!
