I just had 2 x 245 yard 3 wood shots fly 255 yards on the full into a 10 mph headwind then i got booted from the game...........2 brand new level 71+ Nike distance balls in the water behind the green on the 18th at Congressional............so i would like them back thanks.

Clearly this was not any kind of deviation but a severe glitch in the game

    Regards,

    Greg.

It is quite a drop there. I've forgotten to allow for that and gone long before. Not saying that was what happened as you're more experienced than me but just a thought.

    Hi Greg,

Firstly I am surprised you were left with the need to use the 3W after the tee shot, as I would have thought a 3I usually is enought to get to the green comfortably, even into a 10mph wind as it is some 30 odd feet below.

Secondly contact CS - you have a better chance of getting the balls back than a forum post.

Finally, I played one game and tried a CTTH today, and in those I had 3 seriously odd shots that left me gobsmacked, so who knows. I finished the 9 hole game, but gave up on the CTTH after starting well - no point playing when the game is beyond your control.

I just played it and I was left with a 5 iron shot after my drive.

If it was into a 10mph wind, heck can I have some of what you are eating?

But I agree, 3I max and as low as 5I form Champ Tees is all I have had for a long time.

One thing I will say - a L-R wind does not seem to have a huge effect, whereas a R-L wind does - never worked out why :)

If I had to use a 3W, heck, it might be safer to lay up and dial in a wedge.

LOL Zio but not quite right!

Take a 10mph wind - the dashes showing the wind effect

    -->SPLASH

    <------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SPLASH

    Same result :)

Oh and ZIO - you did not take advantage of the Free Rental weekend for Nation members?

Now I bet you are gutted!!!

LoL, no.... not at all. I got all the equipment I want and some. It will take more than a three day tease to put that silly flag next to my avy ;-)

I disagree, into a 10 HW it is very possible you would need to hit 3wd into that green and I had to do it just yesterday.

The hole plays 520, and although downhill, with his driver and depending on how he hit it, you might only get 280 to 295 on your drive. That means you could be left with 225 to 240.

The downhill is only gonna take off 7 - 9 yards and it will be lower hitting into that HW, as the wind will lift ball up and take off distance.

With all that being said, I would think you would be needing to hit 240-250 of power, which is like 95% with that 3wd with FBS, and I wouldn't expect it to carry 255 yards over the green and into the water, hitting it like that.

If I had 225 to the hole, i would probably still  go with a 3i, but i think if you are over 230 to the hole into that wind you need to go with 3wd if you wanna get on.

Maybe like someone said you lay up and wedge in, but that's not my style
