Jim, if WGT follows its own procedures for investigating violations of their terms & conditions the process could go properly. Sure, they would lose a little face to have to publish a corrected announcement of the winners. But face has already been lost, so I think overall it would be a salvation for them at this point. Relatively speaking.
So what if it's after the fact? Cheaters in other sports who are exposed later have their titles taken away - Lance Armstrong etc. Not quite a Lance situation where they would have to dig down pretty far to find a non-cheater - don't know if anyone else near the top was cheating in the same manner. But yes they should drill down into the data before stripping what's-his-name of his loot and announcing a corrected result.
Imagine that this cheater would be using this ill-gotten equipment in the future, in upcoming Virtual US Opens and such. What a nightmare if... I don't even want to contemplate it.
The solution is there in WGT's own terms and conditions, which all of us - cheaters included - have signed on to.
And yes, Wood, we are upset. And most of us have no personal stake in this because we were never really in the running for this award.
