Most players (if not all), have a Blocked Players List and I'm no different.  Not getting into who or why, my "bug" is that on numerous occasions, I've been partnered up with someone from my list.  To be clear, these players are showing up in my choice of a random rated game, not my creating one.  The whole point for a BPL is to avoid them, not to see them come up in a random round.

I know I always have the option to refuse to play, but my question is why is this happening in the first place and can/will it be fixed?

Thank you WGT, for any response.

It's been like that since I've been here. You can't block somebody fully.

Unfortunately you still may run into the player when playing in a random game. As mentioned above this only prevents them from contacting you.

Is this the main reason for having a BPL?  I'm sorry but I thought the obvious reason for the list was to avoid being in the same group with these players again.  99% of my list is people who don't finish rounds by disconnecting instead of forfeiting (and the difference is easy to tell).  We all agree waiting 2 ½ minutes for their return is very frustrating. Doing it once, I'm alerted...twice and I block them because I don't want to play a round with them again.

Who cares if they try to contact me?  I can always just ignore the message.  So WGT chose the lesser of two evils by preventing contact when the entire issue is their lack of consideration for others?

jmo, but I think the priority is misplaced here, WGTyphoon.

I completely understand what you are saying. It would be easier if the blocking feature would completely removed said player from future encounters however this isn't the case. I apologize any inconvenience this may have but it is out of our control at this point. Other game sites use this kind of method as well so it isn't just WGT.

The player might be on your blocked player list but if you are not the host then you can't choose who is invited to play. The player you have on your blocked player list might be a good friend of the host.If you don't want to play with someone then you should set up the round so you will be the host and you can invite who you want to play with.

hmm.  So you're telling me that for the past 11 months, I've wrongly (but logically) assumed that the whole point to the BPL was to avoid play with certain players for certain reasons but it's only actual function is to prevent them from contacting me?  Wow, (& shaking my head at the lunacy of this).  May as well unblock everyone on my list then for all the good it doesn't do me.  I suggest it be renamed the BML for blocked message list, just for the sake of clarity to other logical humans.

imo, the BPL is a completely and utterly useless feature in its present form.  So I suppose suggesting a true BPL (as you say you understand it), and being completely "out of (y)our control" would fall on deaf ears?
