Here is an observation I made today.

I cleared both caches, browser and flash and reset the game parameters that I used in the game client window.

Then I play for about 5 to 10 minutes and the meter is as smooth as silk, then the gremlins set in and the meter is no longer consistent.

I clear the caches again and redo the game client settings with the above results achieved.  I find this very strange behavior.

In my humble opinion I shouldn't see any abnormalities with a 0% CPU load regardless if I am on the tee, fairway or on the green.

Unless it is intentionally coded by WGT to be inconsistent.

This has to be the only answer..notice it more when you are hittin an approach shot with water right of the green.

i.e CCC hole 6...got me yest with a wicked increase in meter speed as it got closer to ding.

I guess WGT throws these in just to test our ability to stop mid swing and try again. I'm guess the real elite players here who are super cool would have just let that meter of mine run through instead of sayin to themselves "Fk it just click it".

Just like in real golf, I think its only the best who can stop there swing on the downswing if there is something that they aint happy with.

Scary thought, but if you read the above blog that has been posted for meter speed and consistency, they would be contradicting themselves.

This is the post by WGTAdmin

The meter performance is affected by a multitude of variables and affects every player differently due to their location, internet service provider, computer, what is installed on the computer and the settings on the computer/ browser. We are working on several solutions which will make the meter more consistent or perform smoother in more conditions but we do not have a simple or catchall solution that we can release. We do and will continue to seek solutions.

But to be clear WGT does not have any control to vary the meters performance by time, type of game, round or stroke. We cannot target an individual nor a specific stroke.

If the meter is performing better or worse at a particular moment it is probably due to congestion between the server and your machine or the current CPU and RAM utilization on your computer.  We have found that most of the issues have to do with the amount of RAM you have and the CPU performance of your system. Running streaming music/video, itunes, anti virus scans, etc...   will noticeably degrade the performance of the meter.

This being said we are actively investigating ways to improve the meter.

Still possible the game's programming actually varies the meter performance randomly within a timeframe for everyone.  No WGT person required to control it.  Just to make it a bit more difficult.

Then there's this WGT statement contradicting the quote above:

    WGTPizza:

Now, back to the question that keeps coming up "Does WGT have the capability to manipulate individual player's equipment?" The answer is yes, we have the capability to do nearly anything to anyone, any course, any time, anywhere. The next question you should ask is "Does the video game I play operate in such an underhanded way that they would practice this capability?"

I've noticed that after 5-6 birdies in a row (not too often for me), sometimes the meter will go crazy on a shot. I can hit F5 and refresh the page/client and the meter stays fine, but if I don't, most times, the erratic crap will hit and ruin a hole, thus ruining a round. I noticed some top players doing the refresh after 4-5 holes all the way through a round, and their meter was always playable.

If WGT is arbitrarily affecting a players game, they would be out of business. So, call me stupid, but I don't  believe they would jeopardize their own business.

With PGA, LPGA, R&A and Golf Channel's endorsements there are millions of dollars at stake, not just from investors but by the golfing community as a whole. I am a golf nut, who has been playing real golf since I was 8 years old.

Yes, and in real golf I have broken par several times.  So, my observations and criticisms at times come from those experiences.

So, cudo's to WGT as I enjoy this website greatly,  but I feel at times it is just as important to report abnormalities.

I agree it would jeopardize their business if they affected a player's game based on an individual, or score, or time of day, or whatever.

Let's back up to the beginning....

Because your thread title is Meter Speed Consistency I took that as meaning the speed of the meter velocity varied.  Example:  One time the driver meter speed takes 2.0 seconds to reach the Excellent line, the next time the driver meter speed takes 1.95 seconds or 2.03 seconds to reach Excellent.

My suggestion of WGT coding an inconsistent meter velocity was based on that.  Something like this psuedo code:

    MeterTime = Basevalue + ClubSpeed + BallSpeed + .05*Random#between-1and1

It would be that way for all circumstances and all players.  A slight change in meter speed.

After re-reading your posts several times I now think that's not what's happening.  The meter speed isn't changing, but it's no longer smooth after playing 5 to 10 minutes.  There are stutters?

If that's what you are saying.....Could it be the Browser or Flash is using CPU time to manage its cache?

Gamer system here, kept clean. I see different meter speeds more often now, not much stuttering at all tho. It can happen with any club & yes usually after doing good on a few holes. My dinging ability is suffering terribly & sub 30 rounds are rare because of it. It's doing it in RG's & CC tourneys equally. I blame it on poor coding as I can't see why wgt would do this on purpose.

the same always has been, only seams to be getting wores, very rarely finish a game these days.speeds up on down swing, takes you by surpries, for me it seams to happen more often than not on birdi putts.stuffs up the game,i just leave when it starts now, really not interested in this sort of thing.
