    Top post Jim and could not agree more. I have always considered your posts as a voice of reason, and more importantly you take a logical and pragmatic approach.....WGT hould have hired you a long time ago.

    What amuses me, these posts about a competitor have been around for a few years now.......until now the Mods have not battered an eyelid, let alone delete those threads. I wonder why they are now?

    Perhaps they had utter contempt for the competition...and with it the players.I have always maintained, as a company you learn from complaints and suggestions - these have either been swept under the carpet or totally ignored.

    I fully concur with Jim, funamentally the product here is brilliant and I have always promoted the game, but WGT has never listened to its customers, and by doing so you have lost customers, and with competition will probably lose a lot more. Maybe they will come back, as the grass is always greener on the other side, but essentially any damage done is by your own making.

    I plan to stay playing WGT, I will probably also try XXX and time will tell - partly will depend on the quality of XXX and partly on how WGT respond in terms of fairer pricing and eliminating bugs (which I personally feel XXX will have as well(.

    Interesting times ahead perhaps.

    Strange days have found us
    Strange days have tracked us down
    They're going to destroy
    Our casual joys
    We shall go on playing
    Or find a new town..

    YEAH!

    So WGT would like us to refrain from discussing a possible alternative to WGT.

    I can understand their thinking.

    I'll run a sweepstake, post your guesses here.     How long before an advert for a WGT alternative appears on any WGT page?

    A set of balls to the winner....

    My guess,    August,      when an alternative finally gets off the ground.

    Given that WGT have form in this department in the past, by advertizing WGT cheat software,  it'll be sooner rather than later.

    (Edit, obviously the advert must be an official WGT advert....Don't all be posting adverts and getting into trouble now )

    Jimbog1964:

    Fully get why you are doing this thread.

    I do think there is still room for an approach is not totally Orwellian though.  Not saying you are suggesting that in the end, and directly recommending a competitor in another businesses shop window is not correct either.  I realise it's a sensitive time for this company too though, and no way should you be the place for free advertising of other another place.

    Off topic directly but enough part of it, and finding out if we see eye to eye on the above too - Guess I will soon find out, LOL.

    What this place has is a fundamentally fantastic base product, and thinking about it more class leading graphics.  It's game play I have always found to be extremely good surpassing any expectations I had generally speaking.

    Where you guys are falling down though is not delivering some still core services that many would perceive you could and should have addressed:

    CC upgrades - incredibly slow;

    Communication - 3rd rate;

    CC Clash so far - low class money grabbing nonsense when it is the flag ship offering;

    Buying a pass at the game start with no confirm button - not classy;

    Gifting at end of the game with no confirm button-  low class bucket shop tricks;

    L100 irons - Under the current levels only system this is not a carrot to genuine people it's a get stuffed go look elsewhere we don't want you statement.

    That's at best (those L100 irons) and at worst it also it puts pressure on multi accounting the wrong way too.  IMO a stunningly dreadful way to run a business.  More imagination and effort needed to get people burning balls, and as you know I think other ways exist as I have said several times.

    My perception is that the business as a whole has become arrogant, and fearful of change.  Get too fearful of change and that's not good reading history.

    All that said the fundamental product remains amazing and graphics wise probably still class leading.  This is the only electronic game of any kind I play - I am no gamer at all.  The extent to which I have played it shows how good I think it is.

    It also has a community second to none even if it insists on not exploiting that potential (CC upgrades).  I don't bother with FB as I think people I care about I contact anyway, and people I don't see too often I ain't sharing my life with and don't care where they are sitting eating breakfast or if their bus is late.

    Your direct CS is also fantastic if their is a problem I would say that - they do a great job.

    Pretty sure I missed stuff both ways round, but get the drift and done with positive intent.

    EDIT subsequent to DrSlicks post below: Yes those rolling stats in a new tier as well.  Could make the pro shop open as part of that too as you know is a suggestion from me feeling it's pragmatic all the way round.

    Jimbog,

    Nice post.  WGT will be losing me that is a certainty.

    My number one biggest complaint through the years with WGT has been the fact that this is not a skill based system but a "tenure" based system for advancement.  Why on earth should a brand new player be penalized just because they haven't dumped a bunch of their own, or someone else's credits into this game + an idiotic amount of time in order to obtain the best equipment in the game?  That in my mind plus a few of the things that you stated makes this place a ponzi scheme masquerading as a golf game.  I mean still, it is a pretty audacious thing to charge for virtual golf balls at 7 DOLLARS a pack that may last only a day or two.  Please understand I haven't dumped my own money here in years.  It is not a money thing but a principle thing.

    Closely following that is that after how many years we have 9-10 real 18 hole courses to play.  The fundamental design of this game and how courses are comprised will be the death of this place.  It cannot take a year or more to fully develop a course for play. That model is just not sustainable.....  Or won't be very soon as other company's will have the capability to have new courses added at 10-20 times that rate.

    Finally for the top players.  In any competitive environment they want to have a top series to duke it out with people on their level.  Well with the unabashed blatant in your face cheating that is going on it just takes all the credibility out of it.  It is to the point that it is hard to know for sure who is legit and who isn't.  Sadly with the flash based game I am not sure what the can do to EVER fix the problem and restore credibility that they actually are presenting a fair playing field.

    As an aside, I just built a new PC over the holidays in preparation for a new game that might tax it.  I truly thought with a rig that scores infinity on the flash browser testers that my meter issues would disappear for my remaining time here.  LOL at that.

    Still I have enjoyed my time at WGT, really appreciate our group of guys at Transgressional CC and hope it survives the transition that is about to happen.

    I also hope that this post doesn't get deleted.  Just how I feel about things in the current state and what will go into mine and I would assume others decision making process when it comes to the evolving Golf gaming environment moving forward.

    To top it off Mike , yes all WGT had to do is listen to the players, be honest, play fair, be  reasonably  priced, and none of this would have materialized.

    Sure that new game or any game would have popped up,but if your treated with respect and fairly, why on earth would you want to leave ?

    I personally asked a few days ago a question on length of the 100 bracket course, and never got a reply, how degrading is that ?

    it is sad

    I haven't been punished so i assume the responses I made in those threads were taken in the intended context of the posts...

    However from what I have seen, I would think you would want people to try it so they come back faster LOL...I would refer to it as another game, not competition...I still have a Nintendo 64, I just don't play it anymore, about the same thing...

    That said I'm hitting the mute button on the subject...

    I hope this was not directed at me, unless giving an honest opinion about WGT is a new amendment  to the posting guidelines.
