just a question. they say this game is the most realistic golf game ever..... so im playing against a player who has obviously invested quite a bit of money into this game. has all the best equipment. but what bothers me is that equipment doesnt make a person good at golf. a person does. this guy sank 5 putts consecutively 20 ft plus to tie and then later to win in a playoff... (by sinking a 22 ft putt from off the green.) now question is, is this realistic or is this about who puts in the money. shud i buy this magnetic putter? i didnt know taylormade or ping made one realistically. i know some of you players will post comments on this saying whatever. but im kinda pissed. it only happens in match play challenge for credits. otherwise it seems realistic. but when i out play someone completely, i am sick of flukey putts consistently dropping. just wondering money makes that much of a difference in this game.

Absolutely not Canada. It takes the ability to execute course management, and to properly read the greens in order to post great scores. Members have proven great scores can be achieved playing with starter clubs. Purchasing premium equipment is a preference that is eventually prevalent to score good, but not essential in the beginning.

that does sound really frustrating, all the "frustration" of this game is what makes it so "realistic" to me (lol).

I'm fairly new to this game but here is my "related" (somewhat) experience if it helps.  For the longest time, I didn't upgrade clubs at all.  I just didn't want to spend any money at all on this addiction (i have enough already).  Then I discovered the "surveys" and started banking credits here & there.  I have finally started upgrading clubs and the putter was one of the first to give me improvements.  I was using the starter putter for so long, when i upgraded to the redwood it just made putting so much easier.  I can't tell you how many times I have struck a putt off the ding line, shouted "Sh*t!", just to watch it roll in.  I think having such a crappy putter for so long then such a huge upgrade was great training for me (like swimming with weights).
Also, for what it's worth, i haven't used it but in my "research" i saw a lot of folks complaining about the spider putter, just a thought.

    good luck.

spider putter aint too bad. i like it actually. and i was the exact same as you. i used starter for forever then upgraded and it became easier. buttttt i know alot of you guys who play this game will *** and complain saying it is all about course management and strategy. i dont know about that. i can play stroke play and score a few under par on 9 holes easily. but when i play match play challenges everything changes. i go from hitting 90 percent of fairways to hitting maybe 2 or 3 out of 9 holes. it just seems like its a whole different game for me and i just dont feel anything im causing is making the game more frustrating when i play for credits.

I agree with Richard, experience, skill, ability...all the above is what makes a great player.  But up grading clubs will buy you an easier game no mater what your level of play.  Even the guys playing great with Starter stuff will still play an easier game with upgraded sticks. I'm not saying they will score better, but it will be easier.

Its all about nerves...play alone and you can't miss a shot...play against other people in a tournament or Match Play and you can't hit a single shot...anyone ever see leaders fall apart on the back nine of a major(?)...its the same thing.

I guess it depends on the individual. I thought it was a horrible putter. IMO

if u outplayed  him u would have won simple, dont think am i gunna lose my credits just think about your lines on putts drives and approaches dropping nicely near the pin.MPCs play no different to stroke plays a good player in MPCs will make atleast 7 of them 9 holes for birdie is to be expected.better equipment and knowing how  2 use that equipment will give u a better% success rate but all comes down to the player and shots that are made ....

If you have noticed the clubs have different attributes. When it comes to putting precision plays a  great difference on putts. A player will and should notice a big difference in accuracy when comparing a for example Daytona vs WGT Starter putter. It kind of makes sense that better equipment would indeed give you better results and if it didn't why would people spend money upgrading. After all a Corvette will out perform a mini van. Cheers

If you are playing a real game of golf and you misread the line, or hit the ball incorrectly, THE BALL WILL NOT GO IN THE HOLE. I don't care if your putter cost ten dollars or a thousand.
