Fews things in the above, and not going to bother quoting eac but hopefully get most of it:
1. We are not grilling people that apply. It's actually quite nice to see that many people here on WGT are actually just genuine, just looking to have a good time. As is human nature we all focus on the bad, hence the news every evening on TV. but there is a lot of good out there too, and this amazingly successful recruitment has also highlighted the good.
However, it is also folly to ignore that scum exists. It's therefore not tin foil hat or renaissance inquisition time weeding out the obvious gifted all their equipment rampage, same family name as the gifter, day x1 9' to the pin credit earning super hero. Any one who knows anything just knows:)
2. So what do people get joining a CC apart from playing an event that day one was seeing twice the usual number of participants out there?
Great friendly environment as all explained above and on our Bridgestone CC website. The fact we are so so upfront about being intolerant of scum, and clearly saying who need not apply fortunately also serves to keep them from applying. The m/a superheros have been around the block too, and know we are not their place. That's the bad side though, and there is a lot of just good as this good experience has happily reminded us.
We were light on Ms / TMs as had never targeted that before, but we had a solid few who we wanted to help, and make the club better for them. In return the club also gets people a bit earlier, and hopefully that is good all round. All as basically said
3. Participation
I know it was likely not meant as such but criticising a CC in public is not good. Participation is a huge issue for any CC, and any one who says not is talking crap. You can do it I guess with constant work, and turnover of members if that is what you want. Some are happy to have a good core, and get around to fixing the rest as and when and some are happy where they are. Any issues about expectations / club direction should be discussed privately. CC ownership is not easy. I fully realise me flitting in / out of the running just with my recruitment bit is way short of being an owner as they have it all the time.
Just with Bridge we had a superb and active fairly large core of higher level people. 48 people signed up for just one season of one MP comp, and they will all play it out.....many know each other and the forum banter is good generally, not just with that 1.
Generally
As said a great positive experience for us that is proving to be v enjoyable. We are very lucky to be in the pilot scheme and so not cost us anything. I have no clue what the likely sponsorship cost is going forward so you would need to speak to WGT there.
Please any one new just respect that we had a lot of CC forum chat about it, and let the "Stoners", long term or welcomed new" enjoy the moment:)
