Hey, never been a member o 'the Bridge' but ........(naaw, not going there ;-))) )

    Anyway begs the question ....?

Why only master + now ?

Surely bring along the likes of the stellar players you have now to the level they once weren't ????

    Andy

( sorry my Bridge friends, had to be the Devils  advocate :) )

Hopefully the Bridgestone CC Website helps make things a little clearer what we are about.

To expand we did try a forum only recruitement recently.  From that we got x1 TN (just TM).  Now that recruit was a fantastic addition in every way, but we decided that as a club Ms / TMs are the lifeblood, and so having more of them could not be bad.

We felt we could provide a good environment for them to play in, and those that want to really improve we can help as far as most want to go.  We don't have any real  "top players" but we have plenty that can win RGs / do top 10 v well in any free weekly / monthly.  Fair to say we have enough competition for 99.999% here I think at that level, and all those are willing to aid anyone if they want that..........

That last forum drive also gained us several really competent Ls, and even one v respected mature TL (not respected just because of his years lol).

We still felt we could do better with more Ms / TMs coming through though in all honesty.  This was a change of philosophy for the club.  In the past we had few Ms / TMs as we never looked for them or actively encouraged them to join.  A few that we had though were v much appreciated members, and we knew we should be doing more for them competition wise against other Ms / TMs.  We simply never had enough to really make this happen properly, and so this comp represents the sea change in what we are doing at the club.

We are loaded with great L / TLs, and have many well thought out comps running.  Now we want to also be loaded with Ms / TMs, and do the same for them.  All good for the club in the long run as well as the existing Ms / TMs, and the new Ms / TMs.  We did have handicapped comps weighed as much as any handicap to be v fair to all, but that's also not always a replacement for straight up head to head.

Rightly or wrongly we are not really targeting T Pros down as want to see how this goes.  The web page shows that we are as careful as anyone who we let in, and we want to keep that control.  Don't want to seem scared of our own shadow but the last thing we want is some multi even if we would boot them as soon as we realised.  Ms + we feel we can gauge some stats to keep out the v obv open play day 1 RG hero / their subsequent rampage, but T Pro we feel that's more difficult........

EDIT: Right or wrong that's it:)

    EDIT 2:

7 new players day 1 (after vetting), and 6 from within our target zone says that this has worked a treat.

Like I say the forum drive on its' own was great but it did not reach Ms / TMs well, whereas this has just hit the bullseye we wanted.  Don't let me sound like I am trying to put off real talent from higher levels as I am not in anyway trying to do that. The new higher level players last time were great to get, and we were amazed and thankful at how many serious players that drive got, but Ms / TMs we also wanted:)

Everything you could possibly want in a CC is right here..  Having joined only a few weeks ago myself, I can firmly say this will be my final resting place. Great bunch of guys and gals.

Some great people at Bridgestone, good luck with the expansion.

I played in this event ( very badly) and the thing that stood out  was how gawd awful those dog tee markers are. It looks like something I would have done in my 1st week of teaching myself photoshop. Awful, awful work WGT, shame on you.

    You got that right JIm.

    Surely Andy would understand that.

Was that around the same time you made that abomination you're using as a player ID image? Who taught you how to color ffs?

Having joined just recently I couldn't agree more.  The place is so classy the restroom has "Out of order" spelled out in rubies

    Good point.

Forgot to say we also have a position open for a Janitor.  The last one said the carsey could not be unblocked so we had to let him go.

If you think that challenge is for you please do apply.  Nose peg is free:)

Jim, I can see that the club is ready for an equipment upgrade at the pro shop.

Same roll for screen and the, ahem, other.  Let no one accuse of not being conservationist minded.

Of course I do and also to answer TopShelf....

It / that is an applaudable goal though I have to say ( with no disrespect ) that, that kind of thinking can go wrong  ?

Even if only 3% of the time then that is shame on us all ???

It is as hard for you to police and be 100% sure, as it is for WGT ! ?

Not just my experience with CCs / WGT etc..

    My norm through Life is...

    Qut./   W . Blackstone 1765

"Better that 10 guilty persons escape, than that one innocent suffer.."

Maybe a bit heavy sounding in this context but it can take people along time to get over that stigma imposed upon them ? ( if ever )

And I think most of the longstanding members know about whom I speak..

So tentative about chatting here on the Forum , yet probably as much to say..rightly or wrongly as I ( a corridor closed for enjoyment of the site )

Rankles still with me massively ( I'd be getting told to stop typing if she awake !! )

Anyway, not trying to denigrate your club, just responding to the responses and here to claim that the black and white arguement' should never be seen as such.

You're  right Andy,  as a long time member I remember the situation well and looking back, I  think we made a considerable mistake.

Said person has gone on to show that they are here for the long haul and will very soon be making TL ( I'll refrain from naming but we both know who ).
