I think we should be DQ'd for running out of the same ball we tee'd off at the first with. Wouldn't take all that long for folks to finally take some responsibility for themselves.

Actually I agree - but the company will not be quite so brutal as to piss their customers off to that extent. Instead it is a minor irritation by having to use the rock instead. If you have been caught out onceand you have half a brain, you will not get caught out again.

Personally I would love to see the uproar of all the DQ'ed players....

Despite many indifferences to real golf rules and those used on here (namely drops and penalties) in practice mode we should be allowed to use any ball as there is no one ball ruling in practice rounds.

Particularly when the ball you are using runs out (or is lost) and it is the last of that type/brand of ball during a round and you are then stuck with the starter ball for the rest of the round.

You are not "stuck" , you had three choices,

    1. Buy a new sleeve of balls when you get the prompt that you are on your last of that type.
    2. FORFEIT since you do not want to buy a sleeve of that type.
    3. Continue graciously with the free one WGT gives you so to complete your important round.

All I am saying is that I have a bag full of balls that I have purchased, why don't I get the choice to use one of those instead of the starter ball, if WGT have already broken the rules of golf by giving me the starter ball why not let me use some of the ones in my possession. It is not that much to ask, or give me the option to purchase more of the same ball when it is exhausted or lost (as a worst case compromise) if you want to be pedantic about the exact rules of golf in a game.

    This.

Just imagine the bellyaching if WGT just made you forfeit the round instead of allowing you a freebie.  Some people will never be happy.

BTW this is the 1,000,016th time this has been brought up by folks who refuse to use the search function.

Why make the game less accessible to the average player, after all it is just a computer game, surely you want people to come back and play again, you should be able to use any of the balls you have purchased, surely that is what they are for

Apex , though your answer seems popular thought it is not correct , the simple fact you can finish with a "rock" means one ball rule is not observed ...

i really wish i had a credit every one of these threads ....

    It isn't a rule.

It is an option a tournament committee can invoke. That's why it is in Appendix I - Local Rules - Conditions of the Competition. WGT is the tournament committee.

The only part WGT doesn't observe is the penalty for a breach of the condition. However, one might argue that having to finish with the free Starter ball is a penalty though not as severe a penalty as a disqualification noted in the rules and decisions.

As mentioned elsewhere, WGT notifies players when they are using the last ball of that make/model and  give the player the opportunity to buy more of that make/model of ball right then and there.

One of the things I like the most about WGT is we're treated like professional golfers. We play Open Courses not cow pastures and we're also expected to act like professionals. Having enough balls to finish each round and play within the One Ball Condition is part of being treated like a pro. For myself, I wouldn't want it any other way other than DQ'ing players who can't or won't play and act as professionals.

    +1 Cerino!

Furtheron, I don't understand why players always riot against the rules?

These are set by the game programming and are published in the FAQs for all to see.

Grown-ups should know how to handle these cases without whining.

So what your saying is we should just put up with things we disagree with and say nothing. Nice.

The rules of WGT are just rules. We, the paying customers, can comment on,complain about and campaign for change of these rules as much as we like in these forums. - and all of that is within the rules. !!

I must praise WGT for having this forum and allowing every kind of moan, rant, complaint and issue to be raised by us. It shows a great amount of maturity.

Even WGT arnt as arogant to suggest we put up or shut.

It would be handy if the club and ball windows had, say 3 windows for balls as a pre-selected, stand-by,next in line-up/pecking order of the balls you want to use up instead of the starter ball. We have many balls available for sale, and we buy them to test them out. At times we elect not to re-up many of them and they remain as inventory with with 2 pixels of life. This addition would allow for a cleaner/better, useable inventory.

The rules of WGT are just rules.

..and their number one rule is to make money so the game can thrive. Since the sales of balls generate the most money WGT will NEVER CHANGE THEIR BALL RULE.
