  Hi guys i've noticed that there isnt any clothes for Australian Golfers.

  Could we please look at incorporating some things on here for Aussies as there are quiet a few of us on here.

  I'm sure WGT could oblige with the Aussie style Craig......but perhaps they only have a limited suppy of "virtual" croc' and kangaroo pelts.

  david ur sarcasim is amusing hows that american saying go again NOT last i checked sunshine we where 98 cents to your in debt USD and not long ago our dollar was a touch more then yours if i remember correctly for a nation of 23 million we dont do to bad.We dont all have kangaroos as pets and wrestle crocodiles for drunken bets on weekends enjoy the next 20 yrs paying back the reserve bank lol..

  Adam my "sarcasm" was not directed at the poster nor the Australian people or nation. If you would see the innuendo...."virtual"....+WGT= $ down the toilet. (the games broken)

  Now as far as Aussies having pet kang's and wrestle croc's; The 3-4 history/discovery channels I watch that depict Australia, only show those two traits or some freak of nature plant or animal or 8 of the 10 most poisonous snakes in the world that are in your backyards and garages. What am I suppose to think? 

  Then to top that off, I have to watch a commercial by some fast talking shyster (w/a weird English accent) trying to sell me the new and improved bigger, faster, Super duper "Veggie Magic Matic" (42nd addition) slicer/dicer does everything except grow the freaking fruits/veggies.

  Now that you brought it up; USA debt wise, that explains why it will take 20 yrs to pay off that debt...... But at least here in the USA, I can buy a New Mustang for under 30 grand. Whats it cost over there? Whats that?.. 50 how much?

  Lets stick to golf topics, not comparing Nations...I'll defend mine with everything I have.

  David some interesting points in  this article have a read i dont assume all americans are crack whores,drug addicts,pimps, gangsters and porn stars cause thats what i see on television.Assumption is just that assumption,and to be honest is a naive view thats been played out way 2 long and u just sound smug.

  Welcome to the first edition of the GHS Top 10 list!!!
  
  Have you ever wondered if Australians ride kangaroos to school? According to Google this question has been asked 128,000 times. As a proud Australian I can safely assure you that kangaroos are not, and never have been a mode of transport. Logistically it would not be dissimilar to riding a dog, not to mention that you’d probably cop a punch in the nose from the Roo himself, should you try. However, it did lead me to question what other misconceptions are circulating the globe about us ‘Aussies’. So this week, as a public service I will clarify the Top Ten Myths about Australians...  
  
  1. We do not ‘Chuck shrimps on the Barbie’ – but we’ll get you a snagger?
  
  The phrase ‘Chuck a shrimp on the Barbie’ originated in an Australian Tourism campaign in 1984 featuring Crocodile Dundee’s alter ego, Paul Hogan. To translate the colloquialism, someone is kindly offering to cook you a small crustacean on their barbecue. Unfortunately the marketing campaign was targeted at Americans (who eat shrimp) and consequently confused everyone about Aussies (who eat prawns). Truth be told, you’ll be lucky to even get a prawn - it is much more likely that you will be given a snagger (sausage) or a lamb chop. 
  
  2. We do have beer bellies, but not from Fosters!
  
  Type in ‘Aussie Bloke’ into Google images and inspect the pictures that appear. Invariably you are presented with pictures involving ill-fitting shorts, acubra hats and Fosters beer. Or it’s Steve Irwin. While Fosters Lager certainly has its place in Australian pop culture it has not had widespread popularity since the 1970’s and a lot of Aussie’s consider it a bit of an embarrassment – it is not even listed as one of the ‘Top 100 Beers in Australia’. It’s not all bad news for the Fosters Group as they produce a bevy of Australia’s favourite bevvy’s, including Victoria Bitter (the nation’s number one selling beer).  
  
  3.  Our national dish is not the pie! 
  
  It’s a matter of great contention among Australians – What is our national dish? Surprisingly this delicacy comes in a small glass jar and is a thick, black paste named Vegemite. It is made of yeast extract (a by-product from breweries – how Australian!) and has a pungent salty taste. To call it an acquired taste would be forgiving. It is used as a spread for toast and sandwiches. Vegemite has even made its way into our musical heritage with its intensely popular advertising jingle ‘Happy Little Vegemite’ which has been around since 1954. Honourable mention must go to the lamington and the pavlova.  
  
  4. Crikey!, not that word again!!!
  
  The late Steve Irwin was (and still is) one of Australia’s most famous and beloved personalities. With the wide-ranging success of his televisions show ‘The Crocodile Hunter’ he introduced the global audience to common Aussie colloquialisms like ‘You Beauty’. His most famous catch-cry was the one he customarily yelled while leaping away from a crocodiles jaws – Crikey! While it is a well recognised term in Australia - it is not considered everyday language. 
  
  5. Camping is common. Drop bears are not. 
  
  A Canadian friend of mine recently turned down a camping invite because she was too scared of the ‘Drop Bears’ – large, carnivorous koalas that drop from the trees and have a taste for campers. Drop bears are borne of another marketing campaign for the truly Australian ‘Bundaberg Rum’ – or Bundy as it is affectionately known. In the popular ad campaign a group of Bundy-drinking lads try to scare female tourists to make them move their tents closer together. Koalas are subdued herbivores with a penchant for eucalyptus leaves, NOT campers. 
  
  6. Every animal in Australia does not want to kill you! 
  
  An unofficial favourite Australian pastime is undoubtedly scaring tourists about all the dangerous and deadly animals that ‘lurk around every corner’ of our country. While being aware of the dangers of some of our local treasures is important, don’t confuse the larrikin before you for a genuinely concerned citizen. Our snakes and spiders are generally avoidable and in most cases are not huge concerns - no death has been recorded from spider bite since 1972. The real dangers are marine animals such as Box Jellyfish and Crocodiles which are quite easily avoided if you follow signs and guidelines.  For guidelines on all the animals see the links below;

  7. We do not all live in the outback. 
  
  I can understand how people could think that all Australian cities are ‘outback’. Looking at Australia on a map it seems to largely be made up of desert and with 1,371,000 square kilometres of the stuff, it almost is! Surprisingly, over 90% of Australia’s population lives in urban areas on the coast leaving 10% of the population scattered over the great expanse of ‘middle ground’. Comparative to the size of Australia, the population is quite tiny which gives us one of the lowest population density’s in the world of 2.6 people per square kilometre. Japan has 237!  
  
  8. We eat our National Emblems 
  
  The most recognisable icon of Australia is without doubt the Kangaroo. We are so proud of this animal that we have it standing alongside the emu on our coat of arms. This makes it all the harder for people to comprehend the fact that both animals are a popular food source in Australia. This gentle macropod has risen in popularity as a food source in recent years as a healthier alternative to red meats.  
  
  9. We really are that proud to be Australian! 
  
  If you need any evidence of Aussie patriotism then January 26^th is the day to gather it. Every year Australians celebrate ‘Australia Day’ – the day the First Fleet landed in Sydney in 1788. People often wear face-paint, green and gold clothing and celebrate by having a BBQ. Australia Day 2010 also proved another stereotype correct with a gob-smacking 250,000 Australians chucking the proverbial sickie the day after. Sickies are a testament to our ‘laid-back’ behaviour and the right to ‘a fair go, mate’.  
  
  10. We are obsessed with sports.
  
  It could (and has) been argued that the primary religion of Australia is Sport. It is not uncommon for photos of Australians screaming from the sidelines and wearing national flags as capes to fill local and national newspapers as well as news bulletins. The most popular Australian sports include AFL (Australian Football League), horse-racing, rugby league, cricket and tennis. In 2005, 9 of the 10 highest ranking television programmes were sporting events. It is our number 1 weekend activity and it is estimated that a third of the Australian population are registered sports participants.

  Adam, thanx for a condensed history (myths) about Australia and their cultures. Most, I was aware of, from Aussie friends who have immigrated to America.

  The one I wasn't aware of was the eating of your National animal, the kangaroo!! Our national animal is the Bald Eagle which is highly protected by law and a Federal Offence to hunt or kill. Punishable by a huge fine and/or prison time.

  Now you appear to be an intelligent, sensitive, no-nonsense, proud of your country, left of center, above average WGT golfer type of fellow. Which I have friends with similar traits.

  But the eating of your National animal is just a bit much! Think I'll stick to my own conclusions, myths or not about Australia. LOL

  I mean 128,000 people asked this by googles reports makes u wonder lol. 2 funny LC seen another where a kid was trying to walk up to feed 1,the kangaroo bounce forward kicked  the kid about 10ft backwards they can be aggressive when they want 2 be lol.

   

  David thx for the compliments, i wasn't trying to get into a slinging match and u do have some valid points.And yes i am proud to live in such country as ours.I just felt the need to express that theres more to australia then the advertising gimmics,and what u see on the discovery channel.

  As far as eating kangaroo it has a very nice taste could say a blend of beef and chicken.Heres some facts cheers

   

  Kangaroo meat is high in protein and low in fat (about 2%). Kangaroo meat has a very high concentration of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) when compared with other foods. CLA has been attributed with a wide range of health benefits including anti-carcinogenic and anti-diabetes properties, in addition to reducing obesity and atherosclerosis.

  Kangaroo meat is stronger in flavour than the meat from commercially raised food animals. It is considered to be tender. Minced (or ground) kangaroo meat may be substituted into dishes where minced beef would normally be used.
