I hit a flop 12 yards with full backspin from 30/40 rough to go about 8 yards into a 13-15 mph wind.........it flew 15 yards......this is clearly impossible and please don't refer to it as a variation.........4th hole (Best of Hardest)
Following that on the next hole i hit 175 yards full backspin with a 18-20mph tailwind and it only flew 165 yards....both shots were dinged

I doubt it flew that far, more likely it rolled to that. Such is the new life with the recent rough changes-backspin went away. :-(
courteneyfish:Easy to use the wrong wedge. The caddy makes some silly selcetions sometimes.
Do you really think that happened in this case C ?
a choked flop ftom 30/40' rough is not the shot that should have been played. flops from rough like that are a crap shoot at best. And with the new rougj perameters it will. only get worse. The pitch shot should have been the shot of choice there.

courteneyfish:No. A flop or a flop and run would be better.
How would you know? You don't pitch and are quite adamant about it. Given the new rough play, a chip is worth considering, too, if you're close enough to the green.

LOL and bang on.
I would say personally flops are back in the vocabulary even with cleves after the recent rough change, but pitches ate still often v useful, and often preferred IMNSHO :)........Best to have the full range of choice at your disposal I think, especially now.

Of Course it would. Without question. A crummy flop always trumps an excellent pitch....simple fact of life.
