    Icon,

Sent you a friend request.  Not going to rake anybody over the coals here but would be happy to share my conversation with the individual I was referring to.

I know you're probably pissed at me about now, but I still love you like a brother!  Did I mention my I can't stand my brother?!?  hehe  ;p

    YankeeJim:

This game has a factor that none of us know how it works for sure-the VEM. You can do your best and still be relegated to wherever WGT thinks you should be. Case in point, my average changes if I shoot a 32 or less. Anything else it stays the same. No problem, that's fair. What isn't fair is when I get to 3 under on a round stuff changes!! Sometimes it's like I never played the game before, it gets so ridiculous and I'm not talking about a balky meter, although that could be a vehicle WGT uses to control this "stuff"  (conspiracy theory.) I'm talking about the cups getting tighter, the wind affecting shots more and WTF moments start cropping up. Start a round -4 through 4 and fight your way to -2, that kind of crap. I can just about call it. -7 through 15 at Kia in last month's Open. At the 17th tee I laughed to myself and said "Here it comes-the adjustment." Sure enough, a previously good meter decides it's time for me to visit Mr. StopDead-ball OB (not even wet!!) The end result-my average on the round exactly-a round I thought would be -8 or -9. Oh well.  :-(

That VEM or whatever ya call it is absolutely murderous when  coupled with a meter that decides loses the will to leave (atleast for a common man like me). It does seem to get worse when you are shooting very well .. although I usually get lax on a birdie streak and forget to give the damn meter time. But then again should I have to... Great example of this on Kia back 9 managed to birdie the first seven - get to #17 and you guessed it... meter goes nuts get in the drink and make a double bogey.

I've had my fair share of troubles with the meter in ready go tournaments but I have had them when I'm hacking it round every bit as much as when I'm playing well. I have also had them in normal play every bit as much as in RGs.

I don't dispute or disagree with anything you say Jake but what I will say is that you are one of the elite players, one of the guys who can shoot ridiculously low numbers every day. When your meter goes haywire it's odds on it happens whilst you are playing well, mainly because that is what you do - play well.

I wouldn't put a thin dime on it happening when you're playing badly because you playing badly doesn't happen very often.......

how come my antispyware program says wgt5.com is spyware,a tracking cookie thats what i want 2 know..

Appears you play with FF. I've wondered about that also. Why does it change to wgt3.com and what does that indicate?

I don't like FF for that reason and the fact if my friends are playing the same time I am it records their progress. Just more unwanted CPU's to overload my system during game play.

How come the absolute best players on this site let Jake do all the complaining? Or could it be they maybe know what they're up against and just deal with it?

I absolutely agree with you YJ. Come on BB and AL break your silence.

Every serious and avid player would appreciate and respect your comment/opinion, be it pro or con.

Both of you probably know Jake as well as anyone. Yea he might be venting a little (understatement) lol, but you also know of his competitive spirit.

Now that I've cooled off a bit I can share a funny story from the round I cited in the original post.  When I said I was a bit hot under the collar that might have been the understatement of the century.  After the deviation on the 16th approach shot, I punched myself in the side of the head so hard that I nearly knocked myself out.  Had to stop playing for about 15 minutes waiting for the stars to dissipate.  LOL.  I know I'm a large strong guy but thought I could take a punch better than that.  :)

Good news- I didn't break my computer AGAIN.  Bad news- I now have a goose egg on the right side of my head the size of baseball.  Man I wish I wasn't so competitive!

Jake, huge LOL! I can relate, have been known to berate myself after stupid mental mistakes at this game, although no shiners as of yet. Meter bit me in the monthly legend tourney last month -9 teeing off - two lost balls on KIA the par 5 16 - lol.   I also did manager to put up a quad on 17 today with 2 more in the lake...

Happens to the best of us.
