    Corwyn:

And did you do anything different with the first one?

I clicked the direct link for the first one, and did what I normally do for the others - upload, click on image to get larger view , them right click and "Copy URL". That normally works, however I did the copy direct link now just to make sure.

Sorry for all the messing around, u have enough to do already.

Surpried myself on this round, -2 at the turn but just could not hold on, could have been a lot worse but it seemed to play for me

Thanks again Corwyn, great fun and ready for next month's rounds

Another round in level par for me.  I was again lucky with the wind and would have had 100% fairways had I not pulled it off the tee on 4.

1 missed short and right on approach, simple u&d.

2 one-hopped it off the front upslope, but it still didn't hold.  Two putts from the back fringe.

3 a bad miss late found the narrow strip of rough between the bunker and the green, but a good, slightly uphill lie.  easy u&d

4 pulled the drive into the rough and had to lay up in the 1st fairway.  Third to 30 yards, and I was surprised at the roll (my fault, lack of practice with that shot).  Saved par from 17 feet.

5 I drew a headwind here, but it wasn't too much...drive bounced out of the rough and on to the short stuff.  The headwind was good to have on my approach.

6 The wind was directly in my face after turning the corner, which allowed a very slightly uphill 3W approach to hold near the pin.  It was probably less than 10 feet for the birdie to go under.

7 after a decent approach with the PW, gave the stroke right back with a late miss from 14 feet.

8 another late miss, this one off the tee.  My putt from 20 feet probably would have missed from 6 feet, even though it was a tiny late miss.

9 I got down into the off-kilter stuff in front of the bunker, snookered behind the trees, and had to lay up 90 yards out, perfect for another PW approach.

    10 missed a 9 footer that I really should have sunk.  +1.

11 got the tailwind, but it was useless with the pin hidden in the front right corner behind the bunker.  2 putt from 39 feet.

12 Headwind, 3W, slightly choked LW to 4 feet.

13 My 160 approach in a crosswind died at 147, badly missed a 24 foot birdie on an easy read despite a ding.

14 too much power and a bit left, 13 feet away.  missed my mark on the putt, but it lipped in for the bird, back to even!

15  Damn back pin! Too strong on my 3rd, but nudged it down the slope and into the hole for the save.

16 crosswind, 3W to 22 yards out, nice flop to 3 ft.

17 missed left and got a reenish yellow lie in the bunker, choked LW shot of the round.

18 with under/even/over on the line, couldn't hold the 137FBS close, then not quite enough from 35 feet.

One of my best TIO rounds with a 71 tonight. The tournament greens make a huge difference for me, as I made a ton of putts that I wasn't even getting close in the first round.

    1. Short left of the green, easy up-and-down to the front pin.

    2. Got it to hold about 15 feet left of the back pin, but couldn't make the putt.

    3. Second-best shot of the day, a near hole-in-one that settled close for an easy birdie.

    4. Fairway, fairway, just over the green, simple up-and-down.

    5. Sidewind allowed me to just reach the fairway on my drive. Laid up and nearly holed the wedge (seriously, how did it not hit the pin?). Made the putt down the hill for par.

    6. Ran a full backspin 3 iron back near the hole and knocked in my second birdie from 9 feet.

    7. Missed the fairway left on my 3 wood layup, but hit this beauty to 7 feet and saved par.

    8. Played to the center of the green, then missed the ding on my putt only to watch it drop in the top side to get to -3.

    9. This was my only bad mistake of the round. I underestimated the slope on my layup and caught a tree at the corner; then after laying up, my sand wedge somehow came up short of the green. Got up and down from there, but by then it was a double bogey.

    10. With a 10 mph tailwind, I bombed my drive over 240 yards and seriously considered going for the green, 220 yards. I finally decided to lay up, then hit it to 12 feet and watched the par putt slide just by. Back to even par.

    11. With a slight headwind, it felt like an eagle attempt when my 3 wood slipped between the bunkers and onto the green. I read the putt well but came up inches short.

    12. Wind right-to-left, I had maybe 70 yards left for my third. I badly missed the ding right and left a very tricky 15-footer down and to the left, which somehow went in.

13, 14. Not much here. 20 feet for birdie on 13 and 15 feet on 14, but missed both.

    15. Playing to the back pin, I anticipated too much left-to-right slope effect and hit it about 15 feet above the hole. Couldn't get the putt to drop and fell to +1 for the round.

    16. Into the wind, had 30 yards left for my third shot. Slightly misplayed the wedge and let it run out 9 feet past, then my par putt spun most of the way around the cup and came back.

    17. Right pin, played safely to the back into the wind and two-putted for par.

    18. The best shot of the round. I meant to play it past the hole but underestimated slightly... and it turned out pretty well. Tapped in for birdie and a 71.

    Great rounds you two!!!

Well done mm: sounds like you got some nice breaks with the putter this time.

And Ben, bravo. That is just wonderful to get round this April Tough-It-Out test in aggregate par. I honestly doubted it was possible seeing the early scores.

My hope is exactly that: that the best players each month are able to shoot par or a little better to win. Now you've set quite the mark for those still out there... and it's hard to believe that GolferDad, Cerino or myself could manage a 66 or 65 (there just aren't enough birdie possibilities out there) so, if correct, that leaves just akash and Legaci (with 1st-round 71s) who have a realistic chance of matching the 140 total.

Best of luck to the chasers and congrats on those great scores!

Once again I couldn't get anything happening with the putter, missing some shockers in R2. Really should have been 3,4,5 shots better.

    Tale of the tape...

#1 F : 5@900 surprised to get annoying front pin again, where it's impossible to get close with these clubs. Was a little short of power on 25ft attempt from beyond. PAR

#2  B : 7@1230 tried 3H bounce-on but too much way through: super flop just a cup out to side, 3ft PAR

#3 F : 11@500 slight pull but way long anyway, thankfully! very bad pull on 30-odd ft putt pin high; made 4ft save PAR

#4 F : 7@1130 Front pin again, and again with a tailwind, argghh!!! Just short of power on 3rd caught downslope and through green at back, clumsy, but well-judged pitch to 1yd off big uphill 3ft save PAR

#5  R : 11@1200 v short on lay-up left mid-club, tried 1/3bs 90 but pushed it and 5yds short; nice 14ft ding putt dead centre to save PAR

#6  B : 7@200 beauty dinged 3H but went further right than expected, dinged 15ft try but broke more than expected (or took off left)  PAR

    #7 L : 7@700 137 out after 2, black-box lie; left 3rd 4yds short, but another super dead-weight 13ft putt curled in at the last  PAR

#8 F : 8@430 dinged180fbs but way short!!! Missed opportunity there! and unlucky again, dinged putt seemed to fly left off putter face and just missed  PAR

#9  L : 6@700, from down in the depths, misjudged distance on layup, ended up in right rough, and pulled it, landing short careening off a downslope; good effort from 33ft but BOGEY streak begun!

#10  R : 8@300 layup>72 nice ding on 1/3ts70 but still 3yds short, awful push on straight 9ft putt lack of focus  BOGEY

#11  R : 8@1030 dingedD dinged3H 2nd but went way left despite perfect aim, annoyed about that one... (no apparent effect of L-R lie); tried 22pitch out but mishit and way short, slight push on 28ft attempt slid by  BOGEY

#12 F : 7@430 dingedD poor 2nd but still reached 50 out, 3rd on but 3yds short; stopped the bleeding with nice 8.4ft ding save dead centre PAR

#13 B : 5@430 2 less than dinged shots left 146 to back pin with significant upslope, pushed it but came round on contours and got it back there 3yds past. Awful miss ding from 8.8ft PAR

#14 F : 10@700 dinged 170fbs 97% to 5ft past, but contrived to miss it with bad pull Oh dear!  PAR

#15 B : 8@1100 67 out for 3rd, which I pulled to be 3yds long left, and misread 10ft curler (dinged that one though!)  BOGEY

#16 L : 7@900 hit 3W 2nd to get to flopping distance just short but long on 24flop, made 6.7ft return save PAR

#17  R : 9@100! Again got downwind and played stupid shot: 190fbs 97% not even close, but great bunker escape to 1yd  3ft save PAR

#18 F : 9@400 tried bounce-on 3H for 2nd, slight pull just enough to ruin it, but still almost got chip  PAR

A hard fought 74 for me.  Wasn't feeling too confident going into the round, knew its gonna be a grind and it was

Highlight - My irons were strong, Avg distance 12ft. . putting was shaky on front 9, all those bogeys, were like 12-15ft putts being missed, but 2 clutch birds, both about 11ft.

Round was slipping standing on 11th tee, but then i found my putting, made good par saves, and then a 15ft curvy downhiller on 14th for bird. .  back pin on 15th hole, will take a bogey there any day. . Then went in bunker on 16th, that was the only bad iron shot on back 9.  Then a clutch up and down on last from rough..

Grind Grind Grind..  and felt good after i finished it . . !!  hopefully it'll be enough for my first top 5 finish :)

Thanks for setting this up Corwyn,  Good Luck to all those who still have to play their round.

    Cheers

Poor start, a couple miss hits on the 1st hole made for an easy double bogey. Played reasonably well after that.  Missed 2 "easy" bird putts inside 10ft on back 9 but thrilled with even par on back. Need a do over on the front 9 though.
