thanks to all those who posted, bit the bullet and went for the G10's :)

wow, seriously high! gonna take a bit of getting used to even the smallest wind giving or taking a couple of yards and i'd guess they'll go all over the place in high winds, but the precision over the Raptures is massive even over the few practice holes i've played.

no real problem with the meter speed, can't say i noticed it really and the off centre shots don't go flying off sideways like i thought they would.

overall a happy chappy :D thanks again for the advice guys

Same here the extra high and spin really helps to stick it close...but the forgiveness is iffy in my opinion...better be precise on the dinger or...else the game can be a tadd long:)

i15s are by far the best clubs out there.

    Advatanges

    1. Very high trajectory make holding certain greens a lot easier.
    2. Extremely precise and don't deviate on dingers nearly as much as Raptures and significantly less the g10s.
    3. Even small meter misses don't kill distance like the g10s
    4. 237 3w, 215 3 iron, and 205 4 iron gives a smaller gap than the g10s with 235, 210, 200 respectively

    Drawbacks

    1. If you don't have a really smooth meter they will bite you in the butt.
    2. No 280 driver to match the speed of woods and irons.  The added 2 yards doesn't sound like much over the SuperTri but on several holes it makes a world of difference.
    3. No wedges to match speed for rest of the set.  I find myself pulling my wedges way to much when I play i15s

TM irons.  Haven't played them for a while.  Actually sold mine back.  Anything stronger than the 7iron has an extremely low flight compared to g10s or i15s like YJ said.

g10s are best for the buck if you ask me.

    Advantages

    1. You can set up your entire set with clubs that all have the same speed.
    2. High ball flight coupled with right ball make stopping fairly easy.
    3. Decent accuracy if dinged.

    Disadvantages

    1. Some wild deviations even on the smallest meter misses.
    2. 9 iron (130) will occasionally grow wings and launch into a stiff wind like it was a tailwind.  Example, today had 126 left into STA #3 into 19 wind.  Hit full 130 no spin and ball flew 132 in air and rolled to 135.
    3. 7, 8 irons deviate extremely short (15 yds) if using any backspin and don't ding.
    4. Huge gap between 3 wood and 3 iron.  If WGT would let us drop 3 iron and replace with hybrid gap would be much more graduated.  235 220 200 instead of 235 to 210

By no means am I claiming you have to play this set.  Just sharing my experiences.  If you can handle a fast swing speed and have a smooth meter, by all means play the i15s.  Really miss mine.

I agree with B0gey and Jake's assessment. If I had my druthers, I'd get the G10's. These irons with the GI-SD golf balls are a great pairing. The GI-SD golf balls just aren't a lot of help slowing down the meter with the i15 irons.

    PaulH0070:
i love the slow meter of the Raptures, will i find the new irons too fast to control?

Paul,,, the answer in a nut shell Y E S....(gotta shed those training wheels sometime)  I used Rapture irons until I made TM. Like you was a little skiddish with purchasing irons w/faster meter. But I was also looking for addional "height" along w/the added few yds.

And like you was perplexed on which set to upgrade to. Ended up w/G-10's. Very happy with.:D..Meter speed goes very well w/woods.  Oh by the way, Jake Stanfill's advice, helped me out tremendously with the correct choice... hitt'em far a straight whichever you decide..;)

I agree priestess, I had a bit of problem with the meter so I just use the G13D's, works fine!

I use the Tour GI-S ball with the I 15's and am doing fairly decent with them. Shoot there are some days that I even play fairly decent with them using the Tour-SD ball. No not the GI-SD the Tour-SD ball with no feel. The problem a lot of people have with the I15's is not the meter speed of the I15's but rather the meter speed of their driver being slower than the I15's making it hard to adjust.

You must use the best balls with the G10s otherwise it defeats the object doesnt it,,if you combine G10s with G13-d you are getting Raps with GI SD,

I agree Sting. I'm currently trying to adapt to the fast swing meter of the i15's using Tour golf balls versus G-series golf balls. It's tough, but doable.

Priestess makes a good point too. There's a lot of combinations of Golf ball's versus a clubs swing meter speed we can use to see what's best for our game. Right when we get used to a certain type of golf ball, they run out.  lol!   : )
