Is it me or are oakmont greens faster than what they are supposed to be? When they are at tournament....they seem like championship...and vise versa...what the?

They are alittle faster, bout 5% or so. In real life they are among the very fastest greens on the tour.

There's also a lot of up and down on the greens and that's where the speed kills you if you're off.

Oakmont's greens are always seem to have a mountains and canyons all in them and are slick as a babys butt. Still cannot figure out how to hit onto the 1st green and make it stop.

PLEASE WGT make Congressional playable unlike Oakmont. Bethpage and Kiawah are perfect. Not too hard, not too easy.

take one club less and with top spin you can get close by rolling up. The green slopes right to left and is 12 yards lower from a typical fairway lie. Use the left edge of the tree shadow on the green as a reference for aiming in the wind. I aim at the edge of it for a 10 mph r-to-l wind.

By far and away one of the finest pieces Icon ever produced was here. A shot by shot way to conquer Oakmont. I would not have qualified for the Open there (63) were it not for his excellent post. It was written for the Championship green speeds but is definitely appropriate today. GL

use the yardage marker at front of green as club yardage, subtracting or adding from that for wind.....or remember 3 foot to a yard so say it is 12 feet downslope to green you would subtract 4 yards (or whatever the actual downslope in feet) from the distance.  But its usually the same as the marker at very front of green, but always try and land a bit to right of pin so ball will roll from right to left.
