I recently purchased the Max 282 Driver....  I like it very much,

however ... yesterday in alternate shot play a member of the opposing team was using a L85 Nike Covert 2.0  282 yard Driver and the very same L81 Nike ball that I was using off the tees. Same Tees.

That player was consistently 8-12 yards longer on EVERY drive against my new Max 282 Driver. Using the same ball. Same tees.

Seriously.  I paid $24.95 to be out-distanced by a driver with almost identical play characteristics?

I hit great drives too. AlI with Backspin.

I couldn't even get within 8 yards of the L85 Nike off any tee.

Hopefully someone with the WGT staff will look into this.

Look just an idea.  FBS applies much spin, and that can = less distance.  Have you tried it (with that ball) with just a smidge hardly touched BS.

That is pure advice...works like a charm

75% backsin is the way to go 90% of the time imho, and..

Many drivers have the same stated yardage but differ subtlety, on my ALT travels I've noticed......

The L83 X-hot driver is consistently longer by 3-4 yrds with a tailwind than either the Covert or the SLDR...though they all seem to perform pretty much the same in a headwind, with maybe the SLDR just edging that by a yard....

don't really see the point of buying the max driver, it should be gathering dust as the forgiveness on other drivers, makes the meter speed 'gain' immaterial,

Never mind the extra couple of $$ over the SLDR.

Edit: what did you 'upgrade' from ?

Alcaucin is right about the 75% bs most of the time. the covert is a much better driver then the max and the covert will carry with a tail wind as stated in the ad for this driver (Higher trajectory and more carry distance) plus precision is .5 better. max driver is over rated and you can get better drivers and slow speed by using max balls. and i will be upgrading to the L100 covert driver and L100 nike irons in 18,000 ex points just to keep up with all my friends that just got the new  taylor made super tp 9.0 L103  289yds

With a tail wind BS usually keeps the ball in the air (back wind pushes it forward, but roll out may be decreased a little)

With a strong front wind like 30MPH (as shown in the video) a drive may get more distance with some top spin (the video shows a mostly flat area, topography plays a part e.i. a drive to a higher elevation and a ball w/ TS will hit the hill faster! lol)

pause the video if you have to

results may vary depending on conditions, player skill level, equipment and disposition of the course, etc.

Of course the tricky part of using any of the advice here is the figuring the percentage on such a small distance of red-dot movement. Do you use the top, center, or bottom of the red sphere/dot for this determination ? Because of the very precise nature of this adjustment, one should probably describe their habit with this calculation/movement...top, center or bottom of the red dot...yes?

Andy had a good point if I may say.  My R1 and L81 Nike ball (and L90 Nike when I played it - just prefer the L71 /81 with my new irons, but veer 81 for putting) I seem to get the most consistent max dist with not much BS at all.  Probably a good idea to try a few spins to find that sweet spot for max, but doubt it will ever be FBS.

    ^^ yeah SP / jim..

Horses for courses and what we know , can be hard to put across, knowledge typing............??

Either way..I think the lesson here is not to ever buy the Max driver !
