Thank you Icon for sponsoring Community Challenge #1 at St. Andrews and to hakman123 for tracking the leaderboard.  Looking forward to the next challenge.

Thank you Icon for sponsoring these Challenges, I really have a lot of fun doing these.  And thank you for the gift.  That's a true bonus on top of the fun!

And what would this comp be without hakman?  Thank you for all your time and effort managing these.  I appreciate it Neil!

I just wanted to say what a great idea this was, even though with a tail wind I couldn't even reach the burn. Friendly comps like this are fantastic all the way around. I certainly hope to see more of the same in the future. Kudos to "hakman" for all his efforts, and to Icon for his sponsorship. Wish I had stumbled across this sooner, although I'd have still come up short, lol.

    Doc :)

    That'll never work

It works for me when I do a Caption Contest.  I get the sponsors lined up.  And go.

    Ditto...

This is essentially how the monthly Tough-It-Out events work. I do the planning and send all the info through to Shoe, who creates the tournament following specs established by us, the community, and honors the prize fulfillment on WGT's end (there are also volunteer sponsors who offer special prizes for best-of stats that we keep).

I want to add a belated huge thanks to Icon and especially to Neil (Hakman), both for the idea and for keeping track of the entries. Volunteer community members who create such fun events deserve all our support! Very much appreciated -- these challenges are a lot of fun, and prove that there can be many ways to enjoy this great game!

Well said, and thanks to everyone involved.

FWIW, I wondered if it was possible to find another teeing area on the 2nd hole or one of the 18th tees from which to play a shot into the 1st green and make the challenge easier. Just for fun of course, because we can't miss out on a chance to undermine Icon ;-) The 2nd tee seems to be in play from the map, but balls landing there just disappear into an invisible wormhole. The 18th tee edges seem to be defined as the edge of OB, so I could not find a way onto them. And even if a shot could be played from them, I'm not sure it would be teed up anyway, so would not count as a tee shot.

Fmags - I suspect you would have made a wonderful defence lawyer - you have an agile mind and seem to find the loopholes with ease.

I doubt I would have been happy with teeing off from 1st or 18th though. I reckon the instructions   "from the tee" does not mean   "from any  tee".

But I will be much more cautious when setting up the instructions for the next challenge

I will need to include anti-loophole  clauses that wrap it up nice and tight. So for those in the future who read it and think there are a whole lot of statements that seem obvious - and I'm an idiot for going into that much detail - remember this and understand why   lol.
