When creating a game for my CC, I get 3 options;  Easy - Med - Hard.

Most holes have only 1 pin position, the others have 2 but There are 3 options??   So how about adding some new hole/pin positions !!!

The three options won't break up systematically, and there are not more than one or two pin positions depending on the courses.

Please search the forum for more information.

Pins are broken into groupings.  That is to say, when you select EASY, you'll get a grouping of mostly easy pins.  When you select medium, you get a different grouping of pins that overall equate to MEDIUM difficulty.  Sometimes you will see the same pin placement in multiple groupings since there are only at most 2 per hole.

For example, I believe that (and don't quote me on this) if you select EASY or MED pins on STA, you'll get the back pin on #14.  If you select HARD you'll get the front pin.  All pins likely have a variable that determines which of the two placements is used based on the pins difficulty setting.

Think of it as a static set of three different groups of pins rather than individual pin placements per hole.

    -edit-

this is all nonsense, ignore it

This is a theory, but not reality I'm afraid.

Following the theory, you would see all different tees selected between easy and difficult on any course with two pin sets like STA or KIA...

I've experienced that it's not true - just try it out.

Indeed, you correct.  I retract what I said earlier.  After restarting only twice on BP #10 with the hard pins set I received each the front and back pin one time.

From that I would assume that pins are dynamically attached to the pin setting.  On BP #10 for example, you'll get x% of front pin and y% of back pin on the HARD setting.  Those percentages may potentially be different for each pin difficulty setting on each individual hole.  It's also possible the percentages are tied to the course rather than the specific hole.

One way BP #10 (or BP in general) could be set up might look like:

    Hard - 75% front / 25% back
    Med - 50 / 50
    Easy 25 / 75

All conjecture and speculation without a test.

If anyone's willing to go 100-200 retries on each setting, let us know what numbers you come up with. ;-)

To answer the OP's question; you know how you have that 360 degree view around the hole.  Those all have to be photographed at certain, perhaps 15, degree intervals every couple of feet.  That probably takes a little time.

Based on the available evidence we can conclude that WGT only has time to shoot 2 pin locations in this manner, so I imagine it's a fairly cumbersome task.  Until they display the ability to give us a third pin set option we must assume they only have two.

That isn't to say that can't change in the future.

There are a few items in the game that have no significance. "Player's reputation" is one of them, "CC bank" is a newish addition to this bunch. "Pin sets" might be another.

Therefore, my speculation is simpler: It's all random, easy or hard don't mean a thing.

Edit: WGT says they have two pin sets for all 18 hole courses. Don't expect more because the photographs will be missing.

They still may please us with the second sets of some courses. RSG, OLY and CHA come to my mind.

Straining my memory a bit here, but I believe player reputation was introduced a couple of years ago.  The reputation part does work, you see that when you play multi-player games.  Some folks have a green check mark, some have a yellow.  I assume there are some folks out there with red, though I have yet to see one myself.

The Player Rep filter portion during game setup has never worked if my memory serves, and the first round of player reputation, right after it was introduced, was an epic disaster. =)

I respectfully disagree. Reputation is older than the completion marks. I don't even know for what "reputation" was supposed to stand. Interesting to hear that it created disaster (and was probably disabled then) - must have been before my time. OTOH, I remember the "completion" subject well from the beginning.

That is not a fact alosso. See MisterWGT's statement on this page, 3rd post down.

    MisterWGT in 2013:

We shoot multiple pin locations and have done so for every stroke-play course.

Show me where WGT said two pin sets and I'll stand corrected.

    I guess that I stand corrected :)

But, no course shows more than two sets of pins.
