    alosso:
But, no course shows more than two sets of pins.

This triggered a brain cell of mine and I honestly don't know why I didn't remember/think of this in this discussion and all the prior threads on "how many pins are there?" and there's been a few.

CTTH comps often use pins we don't see in stroke play comps!  Here's one as an example.

    St. Andrews Hole 11 - A 3rd pin!

We're all familiar with the other two pins. Most often we see the pin up top of the hill in the back (close to the 172yd marker in above photo).  And we've seen the second pin down low tucked behind the front bunker.

So there are at least 3 pins!! I think its only 3, but no proof to show it here other than I haven't seen another.

This must be defined as an actual 3rd pin in the game with GPS coords and everything else needed for the game engine to calculate the distance to the pin and realize the ball hit a cup at an angle and speed to fall in or lip out or hit the pin.

The only difference is a CTTH doesn't need all the camera views needed for putting.  Just a few photos are required to show the ball arriving close to the pin or not so close to the pin.

If you want to see quite a few 3rd pins on STA, go play this month's July St. Andrews Sweeps CTTH tournament. It has a bunch of 'em.  And don't delay as tomorrow's the last day.  Play to the last hole and you'll be rewarded with a view of the long lost 2nd pin on #18, the back center one.  I can't remember the last time I had that pin in a stroke play game.  Maybe I'll open a bug report next time I'm on #18.

    Cheers!

Reputation is older than the completion marks

That is true.  Completion was born out of the original reputation failure(s), at which point they became synonymous.  This is also about the time I was away from the game, so like I said my memory may not be perfect as far as exact timing.

I miss the back center pin on #18.  We used to play it.

We're not the only ones, I saw its picture on a carton of milk the other day. ;-)
