    Wutpa:
to suggest all problems with gameplay or even just the meter are caused by WGT simply isn't correct.

Let's not forget it is WGT's code that runs on our computer, on a platform (Flash) chosen by WGT AND WGT says we can play the game on a Pentium 4 computer with 2Gb RAM. Anything we need to do to our computer is merely compensating for their product shortfalls. That includes turning off flag animation and reflection as WGT recommends.  They know their game design performance was marginal from the beginning.

And let's not forget the recent releases which demonstrate just how easy it is for WGT to affect game performance.

No question in my mind its on WGT.

Well said.  I have no idea how anyone could think otherwise.  I went from a perfect meter until 7/31 at which point all I get is a meter that disappears, reappears, skipping, jumping, etc.  And I'm one of those hard core guys who deletes/disables every add-on/extension, smooth scroll, etc.  Only use the game client on a dedicated browser and add block.  Literally nothing else (and I mean nothing).

Hell, I even use Razer Game Booster (with most everything suspended, the least amount of resources, or completely off, to include Antivirus[fewer resources]) and since the update I'm lucky to get within a full inch of the Ding 8 out of 10 times.

Of course it's on WGT.  Really, I'm scratching me head when people say otherwise.  Makes no sense to me.

    gameplay uninterrupted since then.
...as in , you are able to actually reverse view for an overhead view upon an approach? Is that what your saying ?

Well I didn't say or even suggest my choice of browser managed to magically replace the camera views that WGT have taken away. Would that it had.

I was just disputing the view that the browser someone uses makes no difference to the quality of the gameplay experience, meter included. When I used Maxthon right after the last downtime I had interruptions in the video flow of a second or two and the meter was wobbly, but since I switched it hasn't happened again. Of course the camera view issues remain.

Everyone's experience is different. There have been angry screams about problems with the meter on this forum ever since I joined five years ago (and probably longer than that) and there have also been people on here in all that time who have calmy said that they have never had any problems with the meter. I'm not one of the latter.

Heaven knows these poisoned updates WGT keeps releasing are a frustration and seem to cause more problems than they fix of late, but to suggest all problems with gameplay or even just the meter are caused by WGT simply isn't correct.

??? when "everything" was fine before the update then doesn't work after the update tested on multiple browsers then ya i would say its pretty much 99.9% caused by WGT....and im not talking about the camera angles either or the meter. but new jerky ball flight. jerky ball roll. when the camera is panning it is also jerky and not smooth which it sort of was before the update now its horrible. and many other "new" issues. on diff browsers internal and external flash versions, clearing cache etc etc etc. my computer and vid card and over capable of playing this game and again especially for the new problems appearing after the update only i would say pretty much all the problems with gameplay are caused by WGT all the new ones and ones that cant be "tweaked" by the user (which we shouldnt have to) which is basically all the gameplay. what gameplay problems that i am talking about here would u say are caused by incorrect browser or flash version or whatever your trying to say then?............................

Now that we're on the same page...How , and why are you defending such poor , very poor quality ?

I'm not sure I'm defending anything, least of all how WGT runs their business, I just take exception with statements like "game unplayable." I play every day. Lot of AS as well as the requisite CC tourneys. I see the things others complain about-camera views, sound files, disconnects, etc. What I don't see is the game being unplayable. Why is that? I don't jump through Andyson's hoops to keep it that way either.

As for the decline in QA, I don't think it was ever good enough to be considered in a decline, it's never been that good to start with. I'm not well versed enough to pass judgement on how WGT runs their business, I only go by what I see and for many years players have predicted the doom and gloom of failure. Yet every day I log on to play, the game is there. They must be doing something right.

The thread with the discussion between Andyson and PhiEagleFan was hugely enlightening, particularly with PEF's explanation of how certain things work. I came away from that discussion with the thought in mind that the sheer scope of what WGT is doing is getting too big for them to manage effectively.

Witness the last update. To me it looks like the left hand doesn't get together with the right hand where the features are concerned. I find it daft for them not to at least play an interoffice game of AS  just to see if it works. Some of the bugs were so glaring they couldn't have missed them. Yet the release goes forward. That I just don't get. But then that goes to the QA you say is in decline. I say it's typical and extremely frustrating.

If I had one guy making doors and another guy making cabinets I'd sure make sure they talked to each other so the doors would fit what was being built. That doesn't happen here. The doors get made, the cabinet gets made and when you put them together and they don't fit, the attitude is they'll eventually get fixed but you can still use the cabinet. Kinda stupid, I think. But that's WGT's QA problem and as long as the way they do it continues, we will continue to be frustrated. But the game still plays.

Zero real competition is a big problem.  If that happened a few things would either happen real quick or this place would be toast.  They could start by hoofing New Ideas to the job centre and get some people that have played golf in for a start, and some people that knew what QA stood for.

MS had an OS that worked in windows 8/8.1 but it was not good enough.  They woke as they knew they had competition.  Here we get a new daft tier and cheat focus and cameras set at random angles or plain missing......all said but green dots were a huge issue IMO, and badly affected game play experience.  I don't buy it that one never slowed new growth traffic, and took ages fixing...Multiplay was hit and miss for ages - obv never enhanced traffic...........

Game play wise , here at least, is fine now though ignoring the cameras in so far as you can (that has to be fixed real soon......we hope).....My actual game play here was not fine at all for quite some time, until the last downtime finally fixed the green dots - yes I could work around it, but that was not enhancing any experience to say the least.

EDIT: So overall the experience around this place has been way below what it should be for a good while, and they get away with it (? to what real extent just traffiic wise) only because they are a monopoly.

LOL l Never turn of the flag animation Andy l like to see that flag rapidly fluttering in a high wind at ST.Andrews or R.S.G  just makes it all look more Realistic.

This is how I feel. The problems are the problems and the complainers will never change but for me the game still plays.

World of Warcraft is a monopoly.

and they have service a zillion times better than here, they actually say if there is a bug fix and if its something obvious is fixed in a few hours.

They wont even acknowledge the new balls are broke even though multiple people are saying the same thing!

Though to be fair about the putting it is true, putting does seem a hell of allot easier now
