Hi all, I recently reached level 103 and was considering the TaylorMade R1 Super TP 9.0 White Driver (OBAN shaft) (L103+)

Does anyone own it or has anyone used it and what is your verdict? It's a lot of credits to shell out so I want to know if it's worth the expense.

I currently use the TaylorMade R1 Super TP 8.0 Black Driver (OBAN shaft) (L93+) and was wondering if it's a significant improvement on this?

Or is the NIKE Covert 2.0 Driver (L100+) a better option?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

In all honesty looking at your stats I would upgrade your putter . I have both of the limited edition R1 drivers and although you will get some more yardage you also get a slower meter . Thats the upside with really no down side .

I think you would have better results with your game if you upgrade your putter . Get the 96+ Versa putter to improve your game . Its a top putter , nice meter speed , holds its line very well and you can putt both ways with it which you will need to do as you know . The Rossa putter is a great putter but the 70+ or 96+ Versa`s both surpass the rossa by miles .

The greens is where you will have the most impact on your game . So now the question is do you want more yards or sink more putts ? If you go for more putts then its the 96+ Versa hands down . :-)

Thanks lonnie, I have tried the level 96 Versa before, just couldn't seem to get on with it. I'm a miss the ding putter, so a lot of what I do on the greens is down to luck or relying on getting my irons close, maybe I should try the Versa again and see how I  go.

It's pricey, but I really like the Nike m1 (15 scale) putter.  I am a combo - miss ding/move marker putter.

FWIW, the slower meter of the high level R1 screwed me up.  I use the 98 R1 or 96 BB.

From driver to wedges my meters are matched.  The only club with a slower meter is my putter.

IMO, no. The little extras the 8 degree driver offers-like roll and less wind influence-aren't worth giving up for whatever little extra distance you get. I have tried all the drivers and keep coming back to the R1 8.0.  :-)

Wait for the Level 96 BB :).  Remember how eager I was to get to level 93 and pick it up?  I can tell you it's a horrible driver compared to the BB96, which constantly outdirves me by Xamount of yards on virtually every course and every hole (Links course excluded- which I hate anyways).  I cant stress this enough.  The BB96 is a much much much much MUCH better driver imo.  I've tried hours and hours and tests and test and I really hate the 93.

After I pick up my level 100 Irons (IF WGT fixes the F'n game) the next thing I'm going to replace is my Driver.

It's a game changer, good move in spite of what the above poster claims. I've been using it since it came out at the higher level-2 years maybe? I went to it from that same R11 and my fwy % immediately improved. GL with it.  :-)

I also disagree.  I like both and don't feel one is "better" than the other, just different.  Using the same spin and such doesn't work.  Each club has its own learning curve.

What makes the R1 nice is not the distance, it's the forgiveness. It's hard to miss fairways with it and that's what changed everything for me. You don't have to nut every drive and when the approaches are coming from fairway instead of rough the GIRs go up and the score comes down.

It isn't about how far you can drive the ball, it's where it lands that counts and the R1 is very accurate. Pick a slope to land on and watch it spring forward.    :-)
