Dont shoot me if im being daft but need to say that my Windows 8 had an update today, McAfee stating alls well and nothing reported and since then my meter has been smooth as silk, the ball aint been stuttering away up fairway and everything just seems different and better

Im not technical enough to know whether its linked, but it sure feels that way to me

Maybe your Windows update was Windows 10 downloading in the background (2½-3GB) and now that it's finished it's no longer interfering with your connection, just a thought.  : )

Might be worth checking your update history. for a Win 10 update,

Well checked my Mcafee and states i have all current updates, strange it was because only after posting original, it ran another. I know i schedule my scans but i didnt know updates were checked daily as i have a one set for tomorrow by my records. As said not great with all this, just get by

You can choose how Windows deals with updates but yes, once a day sounds about right.

I don't have Win 8 anymore but if you can find your way to the control panel, then System & Security, then Windows Update I think you will find a link to View Update History in the left pane somewhere.

(Didn't see your previous post before posting this, sorry).

I never did see a Win 10 update for my PC in the usual place as I'm sure I would've noticed an update of that size, (2-3GB), so maybe it never appears in the updates area.

Your picture doesn't show an update for Win 10.

    (It's no bother  : )   )

automatically update on but went in and actually 21 to update. Windows 10 showing about 15 failed updates. Went to troubleshoot and states reason for missed updates is usually timing.

As i type im automatically installing the 21, whether right or wrong ;-)

Computer chance to bellow smoke any minute ha

Anyway thanks for this, ive been in places on this comp i didnt know existed

I have some failed Win 10 update notifications too, but I do have a big new (hidden) Windows folder on my C: drive, so I guess that's where all the Win 10 bits an bobs are going to. Not that I want the bloody thing, I hope it doesn't install it without asking me first, hehe.

Okay Bubbs, I'l leave you to your smokescreen,  : )  cheers.
