I was doing a search for a player for an alternate match and ended up with a Champion tier...to be honest, he didn't play any better than the three hack legends along side him....certainly no darts on approach, missed putts, even from 6 or 7 ft, etc...perhaps a red tee warrior that made champ, or we just caught him on a really bad day.  I have a strong suspicion, If we had an FM Magnets, or an Agassi in our midst, the quality of play from them would have been substantially better.

CT690911, don't forget since wgt introcude red tee for rank round than lots of legend, tour legend and champion players are only at those rank only because of red tee

Don't be surprise to find not so good players at those ranks lol

Yep TL and Chump are easily won badges if the player wants.

Badges and "average" score are no guide to real tee ability*.

*edit: unless they are real tee players of course, and even then the Beth F9 low wind multi-play syndrome........Is what it is.

No Chump Tees for me.  It's much more fun for me to run the table from the real tees.

Isn't that the truth Jim. Heck, as any respectable purist can testify, the only authentic and valid measurement is single-play, from the tips, heavy wind, 13 stimp, always played at Best of Par 4's. Isn't this the mark to aspire to, to honestly display notable integrity that is most pure ? And then for extra greatness and humble prowess points, to pepper the money winnings by only playing the ready-go games at the venues you don't like ? Wouldn't these be indicators of the truly Noble legit players ? ~SP~

Look mixed tees add interest, and have ther place.  It's not compulsory to Cat-o'-Nine-Tails our backs.  Heck if people want to play red tees only at one course all day that's also fine.  However the point remains the reds are not much chop as practice for anything else, hence average score or tier being no good guide for real tee ability.

I am no great player, but tee me up at say Kiawah B9 off the reds, low wind, stimp say 10 and 26s are a dime a dozen with a fairly cheap not used to playing ball.  Easy to see how some who go solely that v easy route are shaky off real tees in real conditions.  Each to their own but that's the way it works I think.

Yes  the same for me, i'm not a great player,  but i play on each course ready's go with high, medium and low wind and from the hardest tee with mixed result because i'm not great.

But on some  front 9  with red tee, fast or very fast green (they select the speed of green too lol) if i want i score 25 and 26 almost all the time.

Even player with no skill  at all can hit  the green  in one shot on  many par 4  in those courses and have putts for eagle, just hit driver full gaz no need to have skill for that lol

And on par 5,  hit  a short iron on second and sure to have a putt for eagle inside 10 feets most of the time.

Everybody do what they want, if they like to play only from red tee  no problem for me but with that great, good or not good players can score the same 25 or 26 on those red tee, the average  and the rank don't means nothing now.

I've been promoted to Champion tier

    Cheers!

Has there been any determination as to how many rounds at tier champion are needed before your average is locked in?
