I just advanced to Pro so I went equipment shopping.  I wanted to get some opinions before I buy.  I really can't afford to buy credits, and I haven't qualified for a survey yet.

The only thing I can afford is the Starter Plus Iron Set (Steel)

and the Starter Plus 10.5° Driver

They are both slightly better than what I have now, and I really need to be able to hit farther now that I've advanced to Pro.  Does anyone have any experience with these clubs?  Or any suggestions other than going with irons and a driver?  I have 150 credits.

    Thanks

Hi, the starter plus clubs you are looking at at the same as the normal starters aside from meter speed, no additional distance.  I believe the Tour Starter driver goes 5-10 yards further and is 100 credits in price.

The Raptures are excellent clubs for a pro, might be worth investing a couple of $ or trying the surveys again.

When playing off Easy or Medium tees it doesn't matter about the distance as much with the irons. Meter with starter plus clubs is really easy, when I had them I dinged 90% of the time. And Starter Plus hybrid. When in the rough if you ding with the hybrid you get 180 yards from 20-25% stuff. The Raptures are better though!

The problem is, with the starter clubs at least, they consistantly hit "short" of what they are rated. The middle wood is rated at 205-yds but even off the fairway with an 10-mph tailwind it hits 30-yds short or more. This goes for the irons and the hybrid as well. Come on, at least the clubs should hit their rating distance! Many holes on Bethpage are not reachable in par because the clubs hit short.  Sure takes the fun out when the "best' you can do is bogey. Come on WGT level the playing field!!

Are you talking about where the ball first lands or where it rolls out to???

One last question:  You're not hitting uphill, are you?  And this is distance off the fairway or tee... not out of the rough.  Those items can make a difference.

Otherwise, I'll have to go get my old starters out of the locker room, dust 'em off and try them out again.
