You have not heard a good solution because one does not exist. Punish people? Simply find a game mode that does not depend on random people. Remember random game = random results. Good luck. JB

personally i will post a note on the offenders log stating the facts and that i am upset with the fact that they QUIT.  i know of several persons i have left posts on that others have done the same.  it may not cure it but i do achieve a certain amount of satisfaction from them knowing that i will do this every time.  right now i have 1 person to post a note onto his log, and as soon as i'm done here i will do so.  wgt is not going to do d--k about it. it's on our own to take  action.  my 2 cents on this problem over and over.....

I think it'd be pretty effective if an option was available in non-MPC games for a new person to come in and take their place.

Perhaps a good incentive to motivate people to fill-in would be giving the substituting player a win if their team ends up winning, but if their team loses, the loss doesn't show up on their stats... or maybe give them 5 credits for helping to complete a round.  The 5-credit reward method would probably be most effective.  :p

not bad in theory, but I can see multiple account holders taking full advantage of something like this.......

They could make it so that the person joining could only be randomly selected, not invited via friends list.   That way a multiaccounter couldn't create his own Blitz game, leave, rejoin, etc.

Basically how it would work is this:

If an alternate stroke (or other appropriate) game lost a player, they could vote to wait for the original player, look for a replacement, cancel the game, or forfeit the game.   If they voted to look for a replacement, the game would be added to a Looking-For-Replacement Queue (LFRQ.)  Once they acquired a replacement player, they would be removed from the LFRQ.

Where does the replacement player come from?  If you hit "Join Game" from the in-game main menu, it reads stroke, match, blitz, and alternate, and if you click on one of those, you get a list of options.  There could be a little checkbox down at the bottom that said "Willing to be Replacement." If the box is checked when you click "Find Game," the server would search the LFRQ, and if there was a game matching your criteria, you'd be a replacement.  If there was no matching game in the LFRQ, it would then perform its normal search.

I'd guess that if 5 credits were awarded anytime a replacement helped finish a round, there would be quite a few people willing to play as a replacement.  I think ~40% of games that are currently abandoned or forfeited would be played to the end.

In the setup for multiplayer game you have a field "reputation"
I thought this in time would be a seachable item so you can avoid players with bad reputation.

WGT could add to your "reputation" counter each time you finish a multiplayer game, or you end up alone in a multiplayer game.
WGT could subtract from your "reputation" counter each time you quit from a multiplayer game.
That way you can search for players with good (high number) reputation.

    Tom.

Quitters should have to ask the other 3 competiters if they can quit, but only If they have a good reason, i.e family member just been run over or something like that. And if the other 3 agree, fair enough (similar to the agreed forfeit of game)

Otherwise they should be stuck in the game, and if they DO quit without the ither 3's permission, then they should be fined 100 credits.

People might decide against quitting if there's a financial penalty + the other 3 could have a laugh with the daft excuses people come up with just to quit a bad round!

for what it is worth here is my thoughts

i think they need a spot on the scorecard that will show how the precentage of how often this person competes a round or how often a person quits a round then the other players can be aware of how often a person quits and then we as the players

can make our minds up if we want to play with said person and if a person quits say over 10% of the time when he is loading waiting for match put astrict by his name so we in advance can make up r minds i think that would help us all with getting a game here and getting a complete one in at that............
