I have read the forums, and I follow a ton of the recommended steps for each round (tun ccleaner, clear java and flash cache, and also prioritise the wgt detail in task manager), and I inally have a meter that is kind of ok and may last for a 9 hole round....

But this has now highlighted an issue i had previously not identified because the meter wasn't great

About half the time, there is a small delay from when I click to when the meter stops, half the time it is ok. The meter stops a few millimetres after I click, this is noticeable and regular. With the L75 blades which are not that forgiving, this results in a scramble to save par at best.

I have the latest version of flash ( I tried to download an old version as I have read sometimes the old versions are better but after downloading an old version I cannot install it, they appear to be developer files and I only know enough IT to let me play, no more than that)

I use maxthon as it works the best for me, and I have a usb mouse, on a win 10 laptop that is a dell around a year old, quite cheap but there you go.

Disabled every other plugin in maxthon, only use maxthon for wgt not for browsing. Clear browser cache like a madman on drugs (ie all the time), Have no other programs open (maybe word for my course notes) and I wait for CPU usage to settle down before shots. It gets to 45% or or, never lower, then I play my shot.

I even have even stopped using the high level nikes that have a slower meter for the legend callaways that have a faster meter but for some reason it is a smoother meter thus more playable.

The mouse is not expensive but it is a gaming mouse model CSL SM 610 optical mouse.

TLDR: meter is ok but mouse click delay

Any help at all most appreciated.

But did you try another mouse? And is it the same in another browser?

There is no logical reason why this sometimes works.

Try plugging the mouse into a different port.

    Stranger things have happened.

Guys thanks for the replies, I do not know how to multiquote, so will do it the old fashioned way:

    Solarflares:

    - I disabled the dell touchpad yesterday as you suggested, will see how it goes

    - different mouse, no, I only have one, I will try to get hold of a friends mouse and try

    - play other games with the mouse - no not really other games i tend to play on ipad and phone, nothing really on my laptop for comparison

    - Word - noted I will now try without word open

    - using my mouse on another friends pc on WGT, I will try that too

    Courtneyfish:

    - tried another mouse, no please see above

    - other browsers - its worse, the meter isnt as smooth as maxthon, In the last few days I have tried IE, netscape, chrome, firefox, opera, camino, seamonkey, KMeleon, and water something, I dot a decent ish meter on 4 of them but the click delay was worse than maxthon

    - different port, I only have two USB ports, I kind of plug into a random one but will try to see if it varies with one or other port

    Solarflares:

-Cyberlink, I tried for the life of me I couldnt find this installed on my laptop, or PCM as its also known by, I do not have a DVD drive if this makes a difference

    - msconfig, ya, I have never ever used this in my life before, dont overestimate my IT literacy, but I did try it after your comment, I did find a ton of 3rd party stuff I disabled, so that was good

    - Avast, I have just turned on silent/gaming mode, thanks

Thanks for all the hints guys, I will work my way through them

As an update I did play a round yesterday, without word and lots of stuff disabled from msconfig, and touchpad disabled, result was still a few shots slipping past the ding line, most were manageable, two or three went way past (like half way to the next line), so its still happening somewhat, will try the stuff suggested above and hopefully see if there is any improvement.

As an update, I got hold of a better gaming mouse, though like 3 years old, and it is MUCH better, it drifts past the click much less frequently.

I also looked at reviews of my laptop, its the cheapest one dell makes, and apparently its darn awful for games and has a crappy graphics card thing.

I have tried a couple of other things, i created a ram disk for browser cache (though it never uses more than 3% of the 1gb allocated to it even though the task manager tells me the browser is using around 600MB of data, so go figure) and I also run a game booster.

So to summarise, the meter remains smooth 90% of the time, and it just every so often drifts past the click.

Now I have  a new challenge, I am not used to a smooth meter and prompt click reaction so I am always clicking early!! me and my first world problems...
