RenoRick: Do you have to spend $ for the best balls, equipment, and the slowest meter speeds?
To compete, yes. To have fun, no.
You're doing pretty darn good with the starter clubs and balls. Try the earn free credits tab above if you don't want to spend $ for clubs and balls.
I agree, if you want to win then yes you need to spend major bucks, the top driver, the top 3 wood, the best irons, the best wedges, and the best balls that you can get for your level
Then on top of that spend 5-7 hrs a day on here playing, studying your clubs, taking countless notes, then spend all day on a practice course working on your putts, then take more countless notes.
Oh did I mention that is just for one course like st. george, or oakmont, or any other course you want to play.
Lets say you play one game and you take good notes lets say bethpage black hole one a 285 yd driver spin 5.5 ball and a tail wind of 16 you can drive over 320 yds if played right, now your second shot will be 80- 90 yds depending on the lay. so if you put the ball at the 85 yd mark and you hit it 85 yds with a crosswind you will fall about 6 yds short, most everyone knows bethpage is 5 yds longer than the pin distance says.
so you play again, and you get within 2 yds of pin, take a mulligan, hit again with adjustments now you get within a 2 feet. so do you see where I'm going at, it's called fine tuning the course you play the most at, and your desk is filled with 1000's of notes, and every note is on how to hit the drive, then how to hit the approach shot, then to putting the shot from various spots on the green. so you call foul and a person a cheat when they study there shots from previous games.
