    MrQueez:

    ct690911:
why are they never fooled by the wind

I did 1000's of mulligans with the starter ball.  I learned how much the ball moves based on wind, direction and elevation.  It was rather tedious but it worked for me.  Still get fooled once in a while but is rare.

    ct690911:
or the lying dots like the rest of us

I basically just did 1000's of mulligans with the starter ball.  I use the speed of the dots to determine how much break I play.  If I come across a putt that breaks differently than what the dots say I make a note of it.

    ct690911:
Their approaches are almost always darts and, if not, they bomb putts from anywhere on the green.....consistently.

If you put in the time to learn wind, calculations, your clubs, your ball, putting and the courses it can be done.  It is time consuming and tedious but it's what I did

Yup...knew to reach that level it would take a load of work and focus, which is why so few make it.  As I have stated in previous posts, I basically just play the game with friends and CC mates...and I doubt I'll ever get much better than I am. But thank-you for affirming the amount of work it takes to become an elite player.

    cheers,

    ct

I mentioned earlier how WGT manipulates shots, or wind vanishes, same thing its one of many factors that are in place to limit your scoring in certain tournaments.  I entered a bracket earlier and my 120 PW in 17 mph at 1 to 2 o'clock goes 128 yards  ( what i can get in  no wind)

Hole #2 the par 3 the USUAL WGT MANIPULATAION from par 3's. No matter how far right you aim (i used rhododendron bush that is 10+ yards right of green) As replay shows and is usual bum shot from wgt a ding shot does NOT start off from your aim point but well left of initial aim position.  In replay it is edge of green when i aimed well over 10+ yards right of it!!

This is yet another WGT manipulation where wind just VANISHES!! my 180 iron with nearly 3/4 spin which ALWAYS gets me 180+ yards in no wind only travels 174 yards in 13 to 15 mph North westerly wind!!!

First one:  Yeah, you got hosed.  My same PW no spin with a Cally went 132.

2nd one:  If this is the rhododendron you aimed at,

then you got hosed again because I aimed at it on this shot with much more cross wind than you and ended up a bit long but on line.

3rd one:  I think you underclubbed it.  I have mapped the 180 at 173 full backspin and you had 184 to the pin with only a 7 helping wind at that angle.  Plus, judging by how far right you ended up and short, could you have missed the ding late?

Here's my dinged 180 full back with a 5 helping wind and it's still 4 yds short.

...As an aside, while I recognize some of the very top players on WGT have clearly mastered this game and all its programming and VEM...the question begs how do they do it?...why are they never fooled by the wind, or the lying dots like the rest of us? Their approaches are almost always darts and, if not, they bomb putts from anywhere on the green.....consistently.

    ....curious, to be certain.

Nobody masters vem as far as i know.

It applies to multi round tourneys as well as single rounds. I know if I'm out in front in VT or whatever then next round will be a struggle.
Bad winds where you need good, and 'dinged' approach shots leaving 30ft putt rather than 5ft.
The current VT i had bad 2nd round ( entirely down to me ) so 3rd round was favourable, no vem , decent winds... thats all i needed tbh.
VT at congress & glenmorange I think i was out front &  vem did a proper job on me 'taking' maybe 4 shots or more.

Like it or not it's how the game evens things out a bit. I guess if you want to win you have to make the score when vem is favorable, and make a couple of the 30ft putts when it is not.

Because they flat out do not care.  It amazes me as soon as you play a hole well, the next par 5 will shoot you in the brush no matter what wind or where you are aiming.  It is quite obvious to me, they want you to spend a fortune on clubs they will not provide.

I'm having the same issues Chris. I have nothing like the amount of friends that you do - perhaps a dozen at most - but I can't access them from my friends list when they are online. I have to wait for them to send a friend request. It's frustrating.

Another issue I am having is during Head-to-head matches, my swing meter will completely disappear making it impossible to play. I've lost count of how many games I've been forced to forfeit because I can't swing the darned club!

No it doesn't, that's an absurd comment!

Also everyone here knows it takes better equipment to master the game, buy it or play for fun, nothing wrong either way you go...but if you choose not to master the game, don't post false information to people reading the forum!!!
