pearljammmmer: "We are aware of the higher than normal player disconnection rate. We are working to resolve the issue. Thank you for your patience."
Sounds like pretty standard customer service reply to me. Make the customer feel like the issue is being addressed regardless of the situation. They're not just gonna start tossing blame around. That would be terribly unprofessional.
This is how I would interpret that message:
We admit there is a higher than normal player disconnection rate. However, we do not know at this time if this is our fault or not. We're trying to determine if this issue is real, then we're trying to determine if the issue is on us. We are working (with our service providers and developers) to find out what, if anything, is actually going on, because we don't see what the problem is on our side, if there is one, as of yet.
"Working to resolve the issue" doesn't necessarily mean WGT has to DO anything. It could simply be a data center server dropping packets at certain times, or a browser handling traffic in a slightly different way or one of any number of things. There are lots of possibilities. What I'm saying is don't just blame the one that's directly in front of your face. And if you do, well then at least have the decency to be civilized about it. It's not a witch trial. Help them fix it, don't yell at them. Yelling is for kids and sporting events.
Everyone complains about WGT. But there would be a LOT more complaints if WGT was suddenly gone tomorrow. With all it's eccentricities, it's still the best golf game available, on any platform, bar none. If you love this game like I think most of you do, then do you want to be the guy that tears them down, or the one who helps to build them up?
And I can of course admit there could really be a problem with WGT itself. If that's true and it's taken that long to fix, I can only imagine how deep-seeded it is. That means it's difficult to consistently reproduce, and if that's true then it's next to impossible to fix it. It doesn't mean they aren't doing anything, it just means they haven't found the solution yet.
Judging by that response, they may not have even found the problem yet. What I can promise you though, is that nobody is doing nothing about it.
Thanks for replying. Take care. Maybe fix all that white space? :P
