What the heck is cartoon golf? Never played it. Sorry but this game is setup to make you buy better equipment in order to play better. Some of us are smart enough to figure that out. As far as my age is concerned, you tell me my reactions are as good as a 20 year olds. You can't. Unless you buy a slow meter, such as balls, and other gadgets in this game you would be hard pressed to improve. So don't give me your slanted opinion about my age or practice time. I don't think the really good players use stock balls and equipment to better their scores. Also I have been playing sim golf since 1993. Links LS and Tiger Woods. I know thru many years of playing that there are cheaters in these games that circumvent play in order to score better.

But, isn't that true of any hobby, sport, game, etc?....Top pool or snooker players have custom made sticks, serious golfers have custom made clubs, bowlers often buy their own balls and shoes, even serious dart players use expensive darts weighted to their personal preferences (and don't get me started on the price of decent hockey equipment...cough). The wgt model is fairly simple...if you just want to hack the ball around, then the free equipment they provide will suffice....if you want to be more competitive in head to head comps, or shoot lower scores in stroke, then better equipment and balls are going to help. If your reflexes are slowing due to age, then the Max balls are probably best for you....wgt isn't hiding anything...they are in the business to make a profit, while also providing an enjoyable way for us to be competitive and make new friends....wgt is just like every other interactive hobby......it all depends on what you want.

Yes you did. It's that instant gratification CGI golf where you can shoot 20 under with your eyes closed, AKA Tiger Woods.  Nothing at all like this.

Nothing slanted at all, just speaking from personal, old man experience and a 10 year Links veteran.  :-)

Sorry but you try to play Tiger Woods in the expert mode and see how hard it is. Don't want to hear that crap.

Constant disconnects and numerous game play problems.

    No disagreement from me.

#1 Why do wind conditions have to be so hard?

At masters tier the wind is not hard, but like green speeds, they increase as you progress through the tiers. Players of all ages can score low, so is one way the game can make it a little harder. However players who take the time to learn the game, have worded out a formula to play the winds....perhaps you could too (hint - there is a lot of help in the forums).

Putt meter is a little odd.. Hit the line and putts sometimes go off line. Hit before line and putt goes in. What's with that?

Whilst all clubs have varying precision, I get the feeling you have not learned the art of reading the line. This takes a lot of practice and even the best players come unstuck (not to dissimilar to real golf!

    Crosshair22:
3 Why does the swing meter have to be in front of golfer, in the way of putting line of sight?
    )

Valid point but there are 3 meters you can use.

There are better golf sims out there, but the one I usually play has shut down. Too bad though. It was far better than this and you didn't have to pay through the nose to do it.

I respectfully disagree, there are not better golf sims, as the ones that have been out there since the inception of WGT were far inferior in terms of the game physics (hence the reference to cartoon golf). That is the reason they no longer exist - too easy so players get bored, and not financially viable. After all, golf games are a big market - plenty of room for more than one game! BTW - my 7 yo son played TW at the hardest settings, 20 under was common - compare apples with apples.

So bear in mind, WGT is a company with the intention to make profits. Yes the business model is to allow free play (and you can still score well using 100% free equipment from the kiddies tees)and hope players upgrade. Nothing wrong with that and the consumer can then choose (and do it for free via the offers if you have the time).

Agreed and sadly true, but I do not gamble, so IMO, they are just cheating themselves and others who do gamble.

Now some advice for the OP - do not waste your money on buying some of the top level balls - you do NOT need them. Your clubs are mostly low level so you will never get full use out of them.

You also play from masters tees, so distance is not such an issue. Try the callys and the game will be more palatable, especially if you lose a ball.

Practice your short game, your scrambling and bunker play is not good, and then learn your putting. If you want to have a game, I am happy to have a hit if I am on - I am not great but understand a bit and can give some tips.

I see a lot of players who blame the game....but often it is that they do not understand that WGT is not easy to master.

SP...very diplomatic and self deprecating way to capture the essence of this string...We have seen far too many posts like this before....it boils down to complaints, wrapped in the form of (rhetorical?) questions. When the "questions" are parsed and reasonably answered with helpful suggestions, the OP,  instead of saying:  "thanks for taking the time to read and answer my post", rationalizes and gets defensive.....in the common vernacular, he's whining.

I stopped playing Tiger Woods when I started going round Pebble beach in about 30 under every time. Compared to WGT  TW is like cartoon golf.

A lot of us have seen and noticed that it is so feckin easy it's mind numbingly tedious.
