When I first started playing, coming from playing real golf, I figured putting well is the most important for low scores. So when I reached lvl 19 my first ever purchase was the L19+ Spider putter. Now I'm at lvl 33 pro, and started thinking of eventually replacing the Spider. Most of all I'm not happy with the 25ft shortest meter increment. I would much rather have 15 or even 10.

    Been thinking about either:
1: The cheap option: The L35+ Ghost Spider. Only 800 credits and still give me 15ft, as well as much improved precision and slightly better balance.

    2. The more expensive option for even better forgiveness and balance: Either L33+ Versa #1 (1795 credits) or L51+ NIKE Method 001 (1500 credits), to save 295 credits and also get 10ft and 20ft instead of 15ft and 25ft.

    3. Keep the Spider and save credits for other clubs.

    What are your opinions?

I used the L35 Ghost spider until I bought the L70 Versa.  Eventually I wanted a 10 foot meter instead of a 15 foot meter and bought the L77 Nike.  I use it all the time, unless my putting stroke goes away.  Then I'll play a few rounds with the Versa.  The 15 foot scale makes me focus a little bit more and I can regroup.

Since the L33 Versa is 1795 credits and you don't have a free rental available, I would wait until you reach L51 and try the Nike on the 2 hour free rental if it's offered.  You can then decide if you want to pay out of pocket for a rental of the L33 Versa.

In the end, it comes down to what feels right to you.  Good Luck.

I agree with Phred!  Since you've now got the L35 Ghost, use that all the way til L70 and pick up the Versa and use that til the 96 Versa.  I used to be a die hard MaxMeter guy because of the 10 20 30 40 60 80 100 increments but tbh, you get used to any increments fairly quick.

    I used to absolutely HATE (w/ a passion) 15, 30, 60, 100 but now I can't imagine using anything else.

The L35 Ghost is a good putter, but my advice is to wait - you are putting fine at this stage. If anything, a new wedge but the longer you wait, the better the clubs (including wedges).

Good wedges will get you closer and improve the scrambling, thus making putting easier from closer distance.

Before upgrading, are you a ding or off-ding putter? As a ding putter (well hmmm, I try to be!) the Nike Method is excellent and this is the putter I would recommend. The real advantage for me was the scale and allowed for easier calculations.

The negative is putts under 10 feet need extra oomph as it is "soft" under this distance.

In summation....wait and try and earn as many free credits as you can, as the higher the tier, the better the equipment you will require (to score well anyway).

Just have fun and learn the game until then.

Get a putter with the scales you like and graduate with that type of putter as you move up.

Of course there a differing views. In the simple, allow me to share mine. The entire Versa Family are Top Bananas. They are more dough for a reason ie Timex vs Rolex; both can tell time.  ~ SP ~

A cheaper option would be the Daytona at L55.  Some of those old putters can still really hold their own against the newer models.

And if you find you hate it you won't lose a ton of credits.

I think recommending any specific putter is silly as its really just a matter of finding what you're most comfortable with.  I, for instance, can't putt worth a lick with any of the upper level Odysseys but many folks swear by 'em.  Conversely, I have a couple of friends (Champion & TL) who have extraordinary success using the starter putter so anything's possible.

We should have a free rental weekend coming up 3rd or 4th week in November.  Give as many putters a try as you can until you find the one that works best for you.

For what its worth, I use the L55 Rossa Daytona.  I've tried 'em all & this is what I'm most comfortable with & have the greatest success with.  Good luck!

OK bud , i use the Golden Putter, 400,000 creds worth won in clash, there is no Magic button, i actually prefered my Redwood as putting off Ding is better on silly short putts like Oly ,Merrion etc.

I don't. The poster asked for the help...a short cut. While it may be true that several players of success still use the starter and you are comfy with the Daytona, these rare cases are in a teenie-tiny number so small it is a disservice to even mention it. In the large number success world of greats, the Versa is, as I said, Top Banana. Fact of life. Your Daytona is also a great putter to own. But staying glued to it is costing you improvement. Another fact of life...
